Thread: get the runway to mapview.

  1. Default get the runway to mapview.

    Hey!
I´m kind of new with Airport 2.60 (and everything else related to scenery design), but I´ve succesfully made a scenery that looks good in fs2000. But my problem is that I have no idea how to put the runway into the mapview, I would really need that to navigate to the airport. Does anyone know how to get it to the mapview?

    thank you.
    /Marcus.

go to sections\general and make an ADF entry. I think that's how you do it!

You will not find an entry within the ADF blank boxes. You'll have to put the entry into it yourself in order to compile an ADF scenery file, (.bgl). Once compiled, FS will read it and place your Airport, (runway), into the FS Airport Facilities Directory, (ADF).

    1. Start Airport 2.60
    2. Open the Sections/General menu
    3. Fill-in blanks boxes in the AFD section of General window.
    (lower right of window)

You'll find most of the correct information for your reigon in the FS World/Go To Airport menu.

    I hope this helps

    hello again.
no i feel dumb that just cant get it. I went in to general again and again but I just cant get what I should type in. Becouse I´m making a dream airport on a place where no airport is in the real life I dont know what region I should look for either.
hope you can try to explain more detailed so I may get it this time.

thank you for the answers and that you are trying to help me.

I have made several 'fantasy island' airports and this is the way I add them to the AFD. Open up the apt file you are wanting to add, go to sections/general. On the left in the scenery box make sure you have added the name of your scenery (whatever you call your scenery) and enter a 4 letter ICAO ID ( whatever 4 letters you would like, make them capitals as they show up better)) tick the 'create AFD ' box and fill in the blanks with : Region - appx where your airport is ( must be one of FS's regions ie Europe, asia etc) Country - somewhere close to where your airport is. State - I leave blank. All my 'islands' are in the north sea off the coast of England and we don't have states! City - any city name will do (I think) and of course your airport name. I don't think whatever you put in the blanks makes any difference as long as the required blanks are filled in. Airport will tell you if any of the blanks must be filled in when you press enter! The AFD is all based on the reference point and/or co ordinates of the airport.( I think?)
If you have added an ILS, then your runway approach will show up as well making it much more obvious in map view and in cockpit/GPS view.
    Hope this helps

You also need one of the later versions of Airport to do this - Build 85 introduced AFD capabilities.
Go to FlightSim.Com's File Search (you need to be a member) and search for a26b120u.zip to upgrade to Build 120.

    Have fun!
