    Default Virtual Air Transat

Like any other Virtual Airline, Air Transat is always welcoming in new pilots (new or old, you are all the same to us) So if you either want a change in life, or want to experience Virtual Airline life for the first time. You are appreciated at Virtual Air Transat.

We just recently opened our Vancouver Hub, which is added to our existing Toronto and Montreal (Mirabel) Hubs. We have been adding flights to our Flight Master on a constant basis, allowing our pilots to fly connecting flights to almost anywhere (everywhere is our goal). A handful of fleet additions and a whole new look with fully automated PIREPS and application systems in place. New charters, weekly Multi Flights held every Sunday online.

If you have not visited Virtual Air Transat in a while, or ever before. Take a look at us now. We are not the best (because there is no such thing) but we are climbing to fit in with all those even I consider to be of the best.

We have a different philosphy in our minds. We are not competing against other virtual airlines. We all need each other. A sky filled with just one callsign would just not be very realistic. An airport sending out Air Transat, Air Canada, Delta, British Airways, United Airlines etc etc, now that is realistic and fun!

To learn more about us, and this wonderful hobby we have created and live in, give us a visit at the url below in my sig.

    Cheers!

    Tommy,
I'd like to know a little more...do I need a headset for sound comms. with ground, SID/STAR plates etc.
I hail from the UK, visited beautiful Toronto last year, loved the airport in the bay with floatplanes manouvering between the yachts - loved it.

    Regards,
    Bill

Hi Bill, Glad to see you taking an interest. My family hails from the UK as well, I visited once for 3 weeks back in 1990 I believe it was. Spent a week on the Jersey Island while there, all enjoyable.

Sounds like part of your question is regarding flying online. This part of the response stands true for any online flying you do whether it be with any airline or not.

In regards to headset for sound comms: This is a personal choice. The high recommendation, yes you want a headset, the best you can comfortably afford. Your voice and listening will be much clearer if you have a decent headset. It not only does not disturb those around you, but disturbing noises (t.v. kids etc) do not disturb you if you have a good ear hugging headset.
Keep in mind though, voice is not mandatory to fly online, it simply enhances the reality of the whole experience. Therefore strongly suggested. Without voice you are typing text back and forth with controllers, and trust me, when coming down in bad weather being handed off from approach to tower to ground in just seconds, typing a response back to those guys is not easy.

As for SID Stars, Charts. These are obtainable at most of VATSIM's FIR sites. I also have every one of them which I make available to my members. Again having these just makes life much easier for you as a pilot and controllers. When controllers see you have charts, they know they do not have to give 100% attention to you, as opposed to a non-charting person on an extremely busy day. They know that once they vector you to point "a" you know the STAR and therefore know what and where you are expected in order to land on the active runway.
Mind you, Charts or not charts, they are there to assist as needed and will happily do so.

I hope I have answered some of your questions and helped you out. Feel free to visit us at www.virtualairtransat.ca and/or email me directly any time to continue a closer conversation @ vat-ceo@rogers.com . Would love to have you join our roster (we have other members already from the UK. But to be honest I am for the hobby itself and am happy to answer questions and assist anyone when I can, be it they join Virtual Air Transat or not in the long run.

    Cheers!

Hi, I was just wondering what exactly a VA is, and I'd like to know how to take part or join a "Virutal Airline". I would also like to know what exactly they do, if you could email your response to me at kien569@hotmail.com that would be great. Thanks!
