    Default Throttle Quadrant help?

    Hi all,

    I would like to have a go at building a two lever throttle
    with flap and speed brake lever, I would like to ask what else do I need in respect of the mechanics. I guess FSUIPC/ Project Magenta via a COMM port? I dont have any knowledge on this but
    there is only one way to learn:D start working on it!

    Thanks for any assistance:-)

    regards,

    Steve,

    In the library at flightsim you can download file RCBth-10.zip, which is a full description of a 4-engine throttles.

    You can use the same principle for what you want, and just simulate a joystick.
    - Two axis for two engine
    - One axis for Speedbrakes (or a button if you just want on/off)
    - Two "buttons" for Flap settings (up/down)
    Unfortunately (to my best knowledge) FS2002 doesnot allow you to Set flaps to a specific position (like the real thing), just increase/decrease (or fully extend/retract).

    I believe you can in fact set your flaps with a pot in FS2002. You need to use Pete Dowson's fsuipc. I am currentlly doing the same thing and so far everything is workong great thanks to Pete.You can find his free download at http://www.schiratti.com/dowson.html

    Thanks guys:-)

    Being trying Fltsim for the file, gonna make the "box" from
    ally with a curved top and slits for the levers, maybe use
    wooden dowel "turned" for the throttle "knobs", be nice if
    I could make up reverse levers as well.

    All the best:D

    Hi Rob, How did you get it to work. I have FSUIPC and can't get flaps to work on pot. I tried to assign axis to f7 key it will not accept it in FS and will not program in FSUIPC. What procedure did you use, any help appreciated as I would like to be able to set up flap lever this way.
    Thanks Don

    Don,

    Have you read the FSUIPC Advanced Userguide on this subject ?
    If not, you should :-)
    Section: "Assignment of FlapsSet control"

    Indeed, it is not possible to assign an axis to a key/button function.
    The trick Peter described for FSUIPC, is to "fool" FS2K2 by assigning the identifier for an unused axis to Flaps.

    Example:
    In FSUIPC.ini:
    FlapsSetControl=66503 (= AXIS_PAN_PITCH)

    In FS2002.cfg: (xx is the id of the external axis)
    AXIS_EVENT_xx=AXIS_PAN_PITCH
    AXIS_SCALE_xx=127
    AXIS_NULL_xx=0
    (or via the menu Options-COntrols-Assignments)

    So in this example the unused Pan_Pitch axis is 're-used' by FSUIPC for Flap axis.

    Just lowercase that, looks like your capslock was sWITCHED oN :-)

    so [link:www.flightsim.com/cgi/kds?$=main/howto/dualthr.htm|this link] works.

    Hi Rob, and thanks for your prompt reply. I had read the advanced guide when I first installed FSUIPC, but that was awhile ago. I guess a lot of what I read did not mean mutch to me at that time, as I was just getting into adding items to my cockpit. So thanks for reminding me of this great tool I will reread it and i'm sure I will get a lot more out of it now.
    I have in the last 6 mo. gone from a basic monitor running FS2002, to now having 3 monitors, a set of rudder pedals, and throttle quadrant with mix and prop pitch which I built. I also have networked another computer with monitor which I am hoping to somehow use in flightsim.
    My new project is to build flap and gear controls, I was trying to figure out my flap setup when reading thru old articles here I saw that you were able to do it using FSUIPC.
    Thats what got me interested in how to do it.
    Thanks for your informative information I will use it and I appreciate your time in giving me this information.
    Don
