Thread: Home-built 4-engine throttle quadrant

  1. Default Home-built 4-engine throttle quadrant

If you need any ideas on howto build a throttle quadrant, look at these pictures.
It is build with K'NEX (a plastic construction material), 4 100 Kohm potmeters and 3 switches.
It has reverse-thrust (with block) on the throttles itself (bottom quarter of the throttle range), which requires FSUIPC of Peter Dowson.
I connect them to a USB port, using a Gameport-to-USB convertor which installs it under windows as a 4-axis - 4-button controller.

I built a throttle, mixture and prop out of Erector Set stuff and was using it for about 6 or 7 months. I'm building a new setup now and I keep looking at the Erector set stuff thinking I should use it again. I like the gears, I think I'll rumage though my kids Lego for some gears.

part is to find the appropriate gears. Are the
K'NEX gears sold separately of do you have to buy a
hole bunch of parts that you may not need.

    He Joe,

I guess, after building my pedals and these throttles, I think I will stop building for a while, and start enjoying FS2002. Publishing these kind of things is very rewarding (I really get swamped with EMails for support), but I hardly find the time to fly myself; moreover, my son started complaining I'm using up all his K'NEX :-)

    Cheers, Rob

OK, what about this: It is supposed to be a flight console, like a cockpit. Its made out of some wood and an old keyboard. I have put the monitor on top of it, so its a bit nicer. I plan to make another one for the overhead panel.
