We're pleased to announce the release of the GoodWay flight planner
application for Mac OS X. GoodWay was originally released on Windows and we
received many requests from Mac users asking for a version for their
platform. Since X-Plane's author has long been a strong Mac supporter, it
seemed especially appropriate to create a Mac version of GoodWay. The
arrival of GoodWay on the Mac marks the first time a powerful flight planner
has been available to the Mac community.
GoodWay is a simple-to-use yet powerful flight planner for users of X-Plane.
It greatly enhances both the realism and the enjoyment of VFR and IFR
flights. Among GoodWay's many features are the ability to automatically
create a flight plan of waypoints given only the departure and arrival
airports, full graphical map display with navigation marks overlaid, ability
to download the enhanced GLOS scenery data, and powerful tools for searching
for airports and navaids.
Because it uses the same database as X-Plane, GoodWay is able to directly
transfer flight plan data into X-Plane. This means GoodWay can pre-program
the Flight Management System (FMS), GPS, NAV, and ADF equipment with data
from the flight plan. It can also automatically start up X-Plane for you so
you're ready to fly immediately! GoodWay also imports flight data from
X-Plane so you can see how your actual flight path compares to the one in
your flight plan.
To help bring an added level of realism to X-Plane users, GoodWay has been
integrated with a new version of WeatherMe, the top program for downloading
real weather conditions for Mac and Windows users.
More information on GoodWay, and of course the application itself, can be
