Think about it, you just spent £30 on a game, and if you have a slow modem connection for whatever reason (No cable my area) they want you to spit out another 10 bucks to get the updates, that are really just demos. It really does suck, dont it. And for those guys with the ADSL and their T3, because the have it in their area, can donwload it for free. Now I will get posts saying "Use Go!Zilla" and "Use GetRight", but to be honest, it still take a day and a half to download a 70MB file. I have already sent a STRONGLY (hehe) worded letter to "X-Plane" saying how we spent a good 30 bucks on the game and expecting us to spit out another 10 bucks to get the updates. There will be mixed responses to this post, most laughing who have cable. All of those who know the feeling of having 56k please send e-mails to the producers of X-Plane and hope we get a good response. Thanks for reading this post, I expect many replies! Arrows2100

I have my own CD burner (just thought I would say), but none of my friends have X-Plane, in fact, they dont like flight sims at all... I think we are all strange...

When's the last time Microsoft sent you an upgrade to FS for free? OK, When's the last time MS let you download an upgrade for free? Oh! You have to BUY any upgrades for FS. When's the last time microsoft continually evolved FS to user requests and feedback and let whomever cared enough to beta test it before it's called finished for free? Plug in any other software company and flightsim, and the answer's the same: NEVER! I'm 56k and I'm OK. I just start it before I hit the sack, and by morning, it's done! (Usually. If not, hey it's really just a game anyways, and I can still keep using the current version as it's better than the other sims anyways....)

I agree with TS. None of the other flightsims give us free updates. If you don't like the time it takes to download, just switch to FLY! or MSFS, and then you don't get any updates, so you won't have to worry about how long it takes to download them.

Since you mention £££ and not $$$, I assume, like me you are British. If so, get the current edition June/July or July Aug, I can't remember which of PC Pilot magazine (I got mine in WH Smith). On the cover disk there is a copy of v5.66. Like you say, 50-60Mb is a BIG D/L. If you have problems getting the mag, drop me a line at doncam55@hotmail.com and I'll burn you a copy.
