If you look in your windows folder and scroll all the way down to the bottom you will find five xplane files. If you experience any problems with the sim ie; joystick not working, sim not loading, etc.; them delete these five xplane files from the windows folder. They're .prf (preference)files and are responsible for 95 percent of the problems as people upgrade and do not clean these files out of the windows folder. After removing them, restart the sim and reset all your preferences ie; graphics, joystick, etc. and everything should be smooth sailing.
Go back to Windows 98!
Do it now, before it's too late!
Windows 2000 is terrible for games!!
Don't say I didn't warn you.
Like you, I had a lot of problems running certain games on 2K, so I finally reverted to 98, and later ME. I haven't regretted that choice for a moment since installing ME.

X-Plane runs great for me on Win2k. Don't listen to these other guys. If you have properly supported hardware...Win2k will game with the best of them. Some system specs may be helpful here...as a future note...you may want to include these in help requests :-) So...what kinda' hardware??
GeForce2 GTS for me...and X-Plane is fabulous under Win2k.
