After a day or so of rest and settling our nerves from the harrowing flight out of Nairobi, we departed Lajes AB and pressed on to Flores. the delivery point of the cut Artwick diamond. Our mission is temporarily over until further orders come this weekend. Here are some screenshots of the final leg of our transport of the cut diamond from Lajes AB to Flores.
Departing Lajes AB and heading westbound toward Flores. Diamonds are being escorted by LJ922_Ed and N122DN_Dave.
Weather wasn't too great as we neared Flores, but at least the diamonds have finally arrived safely on the ground. It was raining cats and dogs, visiblity was down and the headwinds were fierce. I heard radio reports that some of us were turning a little green from all the turbulence.
Well folks, the first part of the mission is over and the diamonds are safely secured in the control tower at Flores. We can now get a few more days rest while we await further orders for the remainder of the mission this weekend.
