Default Carrier, I have a broken F-14 and need repairs, over.

I have found that when ever I try to flip the arm switch in the F-14 Jet that was used in the July multiplayer event, MSFS 2004 will crash and get a error message saying that MSFS 2004 has crashed (I can't find and useful modules to mention in the error report). The same thing happens when I start a flight with the F-14 except that I don't get an error message and it crashes directly to the desktop(I know that Mike-N3306TX has the same problem, not the first). If you are having any of the same problems as me or can provide help with this, post it here. Thanks in advance.

If you know how to get in contact with the author of this aircraft, I would greatly appreciate it if I could get an e-mail address or something.

The topgun F-14 will crash FS2004 if you don't have the file gaugesound.dll in your main "Flight Simulator 9" folder. Unfortunately, that file was omitted from the topgun packages. Many people already got this file when they installed other aircraft.

If you don't have gaugesound.dll, you can get it from the FlightSim.com file libraries by downloading stratexu.zip.

As Oblio mentions, be sure you have the Gaugesound.dll file. It should be in the main FS9 folder, not under the Modules folder.

Also, to help eliminate any crashes with add-on aircraft some basic processes of starting your sim can help that I have found. First, always start a situation with a default aircraft and once the sim is up and running, then change to the add-on plane. Second, when changing planes, always make sure the panel is in the 2-D cockpit view and not the VC, Tower, or Spot view.

An add-on that causes FS to crash is difficult to troubleshoot. With add-on aircraft, the problem usually can be traced to a missing gauge, a corrupt gauge file, or some type of conflict with gauge files. The problem is nailing down exactly which gauge it is.

    Hope this helps...

Thank you Mike and Oblio for your input.
I have done what Oblio has done, but I haven't tested it. And as for what you said Mike, When I try to change back into another aircraft (from the F-14), it will crash anyway, even though I'm in the 2-D cockpit view. But doing what you said has no problems when I switch into the F-14.

I have tested the the Arm switch on my F-14 now, and now the title of this post should be: "Carrier, we have a broken catapult and can't take off, over". I've tried some of the take off procedured mentioned in the July Multiplayer post, but none of them work. I'll just accelerate under the engine power and stall, then have enough airspeed to fly (with the wings pulled out).
