Thread: PORTS and ONLINE GAMING ARE FINALLY GO….

Default PORTS and ONLINE GAMING ARE FINALLY GO….

After many days reading up everything I could find online about port forwarding, static ports, stealthy ports online gaming etc. and despite trying everything suggested by the many helpful and informed members of the online community - unfortunately without success. ;( However, picking through the logs in detail finally exposed the culprit: - Aladdin Systems “Internet Cleanup” ver 3. This excellent freeware program although apparently turned off; rather too successfully still continued blocking all the ports! However, now revealed it was a simple matter to dig down a couple of layers within the “Browser Guard” section and with the click of a mouse clear the offending box and completely neutralise the monster which had held me at bay for over a week! Oh what joy! :+ So very simple when you know how!
Thanks to everyone in the various forums for the help and suggestions... I just hope this post may go some way to help some other poor soul grappling with the black art of port forwarding, static IP addresses etc.
    Regards,
    Gustav.

    Excellent Gustav,
This was definately one of those 'bespoke' type issues. It's kinda impossible to trouble shoot from afar when one is not aware of all the software on a system. Unfortunately, and in most cases this is not an option, the only way you could have gotten someone else to spot it would have been to list 'all' the software installed on your PC.
Thanks for posting your solution up here, it may well be useful for someone else some day. That's what the forum is all about.

Really glad you got it sorted in the end. Now maybe you can join us on a session or two. :-)

    Best

    Hi Geoff,
Thanks for your post, only just seen it! After the help and advice I had in the forum I look forward to joining one of your sessions - once I get a little more practice.
The carrier landings look interesting to say the least, at the moment though I am just about coming to terms with some, "Midweek Adventures" with UKATC. Learning as I go! (softly, softly.... etc.) ;-)
Look forward to joining you in the future, thanks again for your help.
    Regards,
    Gustav.
