great edits mike! did u know, for a long time the corsair was rejected by the us navy as a carrier plane, they said the nose was too long and the visibility on landing was too poor, so it was relegated to marine only squadrons. it was the british who first embraced it as a carrier plane, and to overcome the visibility-over-the-nose problem they developed a curving approach onto the deck so there was less need to look straight ahead!

Yes Phil, I am pretty savvy on the Corsair history as some may think I am obsessed with it! The interesing thing is - the carrier approach that the British pioneered is still in use today by the US Navy. Thanks for the replies Gents! Mike ;-)
