Gang got a 1.4Ghz 266FSB, contemplating a 2Gig Athlon, has anyone upgraded from 1.4 to 2 gig? if so was it worth it, FPS etc??

Hey if you got a good motherboard say a Asus A7V266-R, good PC2100 ram and a good fan (SK6) you could probably change your fsb to say 145 easy and get
145-133=12*12.5=150 and additional 150 mhz that would put you up
to 1660+150=1810 the most I can get out of my 1.4 thunderbird is 10.5*149=1565 thats about 250mhz speed increase plus its got the Intel SMTP capability which means you can run USAF in all its glory because it will see your processor as a Pentium III. And It will run cooler.
I think its a good step up but Im waiting till the price comes down some more

The Athlon 2000 isn't a 2gig, but is 1.666GHz. It performs as well (if not better that) a P4 2gig in every area, so AMD called it a 2000.

How did you do that whole SMTP thing cause i have USAF and I woud lvoe to use the P3 things....
I've got a real good Mobo (Abit K7G) and I think I'll try to overclock my processor (I got like 6-7 fans)
*bump* I realy wanna know how to do that P3 thingy...i GOT THE SAME EXACT PROCESSOR.
