I was wondering if anybody could help me figure out how to use the approach feature on autopilot.
Justin
1. Establish level flight BELOW the glideslope at approach speed with approach flaps.
2. Engage AP/HDG/ALT
3. Use the hdg bug to establish a localizer intercept angle of < 30 degrees.
4. Use the hdg bug to reduce the intercept angle to < 5 degrees.
5. Engage APP mode when just about established on the localizer.
6. Be prepared for some minor "S" turns relative to the localizer course until the AP "locks on."
7. Do NOT disengage ALT...that will be done by the AP automatically.
8. Drop gear at either glideslope intercept (my preference) or at the outer marker.
9. Enjoy the approach but some FS models work much better than others on coupled approaches.
Hope this helps.

Goto the FS2002 Tips Library (click on banner at the top of this page).
Go to section Pilot Instruction, item 'flying the FS2K2 Autopilot'.
You'll find and excellent, illustrated explanations of all autopilot features.
