This ongoing war between Boeing and Airbus seems to pop up again and again no matter what aspect of commercial aviation you are talking about. With McDonnell-Douglas gone, Boeing and Airbus are neck and neck, and I believe that either this year or last year Airbus exceeded Boeing's number of new orders. So with this competition in mind, it would be interesting to see who everyone on this board is partial to.

Personally I am a fan of Airbus because of the advanced technology they implemented into the A320 and how it became such a rapid success.

Boeing, all the way. Reason being is that when I was a kid (about 7 or 8) flying back in a 747 from Germany, where my father was serving in the U.S. Army, I was able to go up to the cockpit during the flight. The co-pilot was in the bathroom or something, so the captain let me sit in the co-pilot's seat. He even let me flip some switches. (Couldn't tell you what they were) I was able to sit there for a good 20 minutes and just talk with the captain and look out the windscreen. That's what first got me hooked on flying, and that's what makes me love the Boeing 747, even today. :-)

Boeing. Because the airbus airplanes have a kind of fly by wire system that can be confusing to use which was the cause of a couple of insidents. Also the new A3XX airplane is just too big and personally I would never want to fly in an airplane with 700 people in it. That is just too big!!

I personally liek the A380's they look awesome I don't car ehow many people are on as long as it leaves the ground (and stays in the air) which I sure will.

A3XX? Its known as the A380 now, but personally, I wonder where the A350, 360, and 370 went :-lol. Anyway, I prefer Boeing. They are good rugged planes, I like the 727 most since I flew on them most, and I like them, they arent too big, and they arent too small. They might be a bit noisy in the back, but thats to be expected. Its a shame that nowadays they are on the way out the door, but at least they are hanging around with the smaller airlines, and it looks like Delta is still gonna keep theirs for a while, since it would take a while to take them out and replace them with something else.

Which incidents are you referring to?

    Cheers!

    Luke

PS: The 727 had a lot of crashes in the mid-1960s by pilots unfamiliar with its high amounts of flap and very versatile flight characteristics compared to early jets and piston engined aircraft.

Well there was an Incident At an airshow where the pilot was trying to pull the airplane up and the autopilot on the ariplane was pushing the plane down and the a320(ii belive) crashed into the trees. There where more incidents But i don't remember. I saw this on the descovery channel a few years back.

1.) We design for reality, not for idealism.
Thus, you will not see virtual cabins on our aircraft. You can not see inside the real thing anyway, unless you are looking into the sun. You will find virtual cockpits but they will not be visible from outside for the same reason.
2.) We design for people with real computers. Thusly, we will not waste polygons on superfluous parts. We will use a texture when there is no noticeable difference between it and a group of performance wasting parts. We will model our aircraft efficiently. If you do not like it, too bad.
3.) We will give you the latest features, but we WILL NOT sacrifice visual accuracy to implement them. Accuracy comes before eye candy.[/font size]

Long live Boeing! Personally, I think the A380 looks kind of ugly and I also believe that Airbus is a little bit ahead of itself. Sure, it has gotten some orders, but lets be honest. Airlines who already operate the newer 747's or A340 probably aren't going to see a need to buy another super jumbo.
