Default World Tour Leg 48 (Caracas, Venezuela)
Leg 48
Date: 3/13/04
Dep: SVMC / La Chinita Intl / Maracaibo, Venezuela
Arr: SVMI / Simón Bolívar Intl / Maiquetia, Venezuela (Caracas)
Route: SVMC-MAU-MADNO-GUADA-LIXIL-PBL-SVMI
Distance: 285.1 nm
Time enroute: 2:47

Now we head east to go visit our buddy Carlos in Caracas. This marks the 24th world capital of the tour.

For information on Venezuela:
http://www.cia.gov/cia/publications/...k/geos/ve.html
or ask your local Venezuelan on the forum!

Now for the flight!

Here I am donning my new custom Archer paint scheme -- I'm just not sure why I didn't pick a faster plane for this 285 nm trip!

This freeware add-on scenery is pretty good. Holding short for takeoff ...

Flying over Maracaibo:

Oil rigs in Lake Maracaibo, and a custom bridge linking Maracaibo with the eastern shore. That weird thing out in the water is a smoke effect that looks funny from afar.

We're in for another great sunset once the sun begins to sink:

Woohoo, we have mesh! (albeit 76m)
http://www.flightsim.com/dcforum/Use...ec09cdacf4.jpg

We are going to get a lot of good shots featuring a sunset with good cloud cover:

FS9 is amazing in that no two sunsets are ever alike.

I took almost 60 shots of this flight. It's hard to decide which ones to include.

All clouds are default. ActiveSky 2004 filled the sky with them.

No editing was applied to these shots except resizing and sharpening.

Thanks goes to Dwayne for suggesting the stars add-on. They look amazingly realistic in 1280 x 960 resolution, and they lose realism in resizing.

Last bit of direct sunlight:

Sorry if these are a bit too dark, but this time of evening is heavenly:

My last unedited shot:

The rest were brightened so they'd be visible:

Now we just have to go find Carlos' house and hope he hasn't gone to bed already.

I hope you enjoyed this flight. After spending some time in Caracas we will head out east to go see Ronell's birthplace: Barcelona, Venezuela.

Great shots there John and that's an awesome new paint on the archer!!! :-eek

Looks like it was a very fun flight indeed... I hope you're getting an eye-full of all the beautiful Venezuelan girls overthere... Here's one of the regulars at the mall just a couple of miles from the airport just for you buddy... I kid you not, the majority of the girls overthere are AT LEAST this hot!!!

:-jumpy :-jumpy :-jumpy

Don't worry there's plenty more of those over in Barcelona ;-)

Looking forward to the next leg!!!

BTW... I noticed that on landing you were landing on RWY 10 at Maiquetia? There's no runway 10 just a 09 and an 08??? Perhaps you know something I don't?

Take care :-wave
