I dont understand why but the only way for me to get anything higher than 15 fps is to set my settings to minimal. And with that I still only get about 20 fps in non dense areas. Is this normal? My ssytem is a p4 1.5 gig , 512 mg RAM , geforce 2 mx400.

you 'll gain a lot of fps

Enlarge your screen with your monitorsettings

Quit worrying about frame rates..is it smooth? I'm getting
15-20 (sometimes below 10 in clouds, etc) and as long as it's
smooth, I don't care. I have most of the sliders max'd.

Just fly and don't worry about the frame rates.

I'm getting 20% better fps with:

    PentiumIII 800EB
    384MB SDRAM
    GeForce3 64MB (non-Ti)
    SBAudigy Gamer

Something must be wrong....Sorry to say :-(

    Hi,
Don't let us discuss about CPUs...
    Let's discuss about graphic cards.
The MX obviously is your bottle neck, I think.
I'm shure it's in my system (AMD TB C 1000)...
    I think about upgrading to an ATI 7500 or a GeForce3 Ti200.
    Anyone some better suggestions?

Probably but going to a ATI 7500 is a step back as its desgined to be on par with the GeForce 2...Maybe a Geforce 3 Ti 200 is good...but if you have any extra money just get a normal GeForce 3 its not that much more actually and has better perfromance. and don't get a 8500 there are tioi many incompatabilites with it.

lI don't know if your MX400 is 32 or 64 but mine is a 64 and works like a champ. I had a Ti500 on another PC and got virtually zero visible improvement over what I have now and actually had more stuttering although that could have been a driver issue at that time.

I would suggest that you reset all of you setting to default and see what happens. If you still have low fps, then one at a time, lower given settings and monitor the fps pickup if any. Eventually, you should come across one or two settings that are causeing fps degredation.

Of course, a lot depends upon where it is that you are flying. 15 fps in complex areas is as good as it gets. To "baseline" your system, fly at some flat, remote area and see what you get.

But I agree with others who caution not to get hung up on frame rates. Anything in the mid-teens is fine for the human eye and above about 24 fps is a waste of PC resources because you will not perceive the difference.

Hi there, someting's gone potty! you should be able to run
    FS2002 smooth as a baby's a.. I have PIII 1ghz 458 mb ram
Geforce 256 ddr pro, runs like a dream all sliders max.

So something is wrong, driver! hardware acc. enabled "tickmark"
in FS2002 settings? run your "dxdiag" from the run menu and check your hardware.
