    Default Sabena A319, Stanstead-Brussels

    G'day all,
Got stuck in a bit of a timewarp and Sabena are still flying around losing money by the bucketload but making the skies even more beautiful with their wonderful livery.

At the gate at Stanstead on a rather nice autumn morning, real weather was NOT used :-lol

Some passengers in the terminal. You'd think they'd be looking at the plane rather than us.

Approaching the active as a Ryanair comes into land. There's a lot of Ryanair here, is it their home base i wonder?

Climbing away and up to 20,000 feet. Rather a short flight for the Airbus, i'd normally take the Dash but it's in for repairs to the undercarriage after an unfortunate episode with a spotter. Not a pretty sight

On approach to Rwy 25R (i think)

I hope we're not going to have another foolhardy spotter. Looks good though

What a sad sight. The last Sabena at a deserted terminal. Makes you want to cry. Never mind, Sabena lives on in flightsim

    G'day Matthew,
I always follow the flightplan on the MCDU and so prepare for descent well before you reach the top of descent arrow on the display. If you look at the f-pln page on the MCDU it will give you the alt you should be at the next waypoint after top of descent. A few minutes before TOD then change the alt with the button. Just before the TOD arrow but not after then press the button and you will go into managed descent then just follow the alt on the MCDU changing it at each waypoint and it should manage you all the way. If you are a bit too high or too fast then right click the alt button and you will go into idle descent. You can use the spoilers to slow down too, i have to quite often.

It took a lot of practice but i find i'm nearly perfect everytime now.

Best of luck and i'm always happy to answer questions.

    Thanks Aled,
I thought Ryanair was an Irish airline so i was surprised to see so many at Stansted especially as i've not seen many in FS flying in Ireland, mainly Aer Lingus.

    Very nice post Paul!
A pitty that you made an Autolanding...:-(
Normally the decentalitudes are in coordination with the ATC...but its indeed a great help with MCDU!!

    Take care!

Ah Tommy! I am the autolanding king. A beer in one hand and a beautiful stewardess in the other cross checking my doors:-lol I'm too busy to land the plane my friend;-)
