Thread: "Wrong Button!"

  1. Default "Wrong Button!"

A friend from work enlightened me to these. I hope they haven't been posted before. Can't vouch for their authenticity but
it's sure good for a chuckle.

It's nice to know somebody else has bad days too. :-)

Don't think these are copyrighted. If so - my humble apologies.

    :-lol:-lol

I think they must be fake because of missles can't be fired while the gear is down, although there could have been a malfuction.

    Fake.

    1) Gear down = disable weps

    2) the angle from wingtip for launch means it wouldn't (probably) be in that position for photo #1 to hit the flightdeck flightdeck

    3) no discharge from missle engine ?

    4) if it was a launch, it would've been too quick from cat man and camera op to track if they were that close.

    5) I did laugh aloud when I saw it though :-)

Looks to me like the aircraft has trapped, something has failed on the wingtip launch rail and the missile has carried on while the aircraft stopped! That would seem to explain why the hornet is in the landing area.

Great shots, I have a video about wrong landings on carriers, where you can see this happen after rough landings.(this event is also on film so it's real) The plane is stopped but the missiles fly on. Some terrible scenes on this video btw.
There's also a scene where a landing fighter ends between the parked planes on deck and the ammo on the planes explodes one by one, after a few minutes the whole carrier is in flames.

    Real Real Real

It happened on the U.S.S. Forestall or the Enterprise I don't remember which one.

The missle fell off the plane during arrestment and slid down the flightdeck and over the side.

It's definately fake simply for the fact that a missile travels soo fast that I doubt you can get a picture of it.

So there was a photographer, framed up witht he a/c trapping ?

Judging by the shot, wouldn't the photographer be just a little too close ?

I have seen the footage of this incident, and it is real. The accident on the U.S.S. Forrestal, a missle was accidentally triggered, and it launched into another aircraft. The chain reaction of exploding ordanace and aircraft fuel caused massive damage to the carrier $72 Million I believe, and resulted in the deaths of 134 men.
