Default TA Leg 39, Mursa Matruh - Gamal

Actually the place I'm going to is in Libya, and the airport is called "Gamal Abdel Nasser" but I don't think it will fit in the title box. ;)
After my last leg being very uneventful this leg was anything but!

    Preparing to leave Mursa Matruh.

First bit of drama for the day, it was howling a gale, and I was unfortunate to be caught by an exceptionally strong gust when I was just approaching takeoff speed, which blew my plane clean off the runway! So here I am taxiing back, in the dirt, for a second try.

This time I got off the ground safely, albeit with a very steep takeoff angle!

This shot is almost directly over the Egypt-Libya border.

    Still some dried lakes around.

Surprisingly, near the airport was a quite large river.

And now for the scariest landing I have made so far on my Trans-Africa flight, you can see I'm on a slight angle here, as their was a light crosswind.

But just as I touched the ground a sudden gust, similar to the one I experienced on takeoff, struck my aircraft. You can see a faint orange spark near the tail, a whole lot were sent out by the wing striking the ground. Luckily I was down to about 20 knots by the time the plane went on to a wing, so I was able to keep the plane from tipping over completely. Lucky! :o

Thanks for the comments! Wow, 40 knots! (I suppose there's a bit more weight in a 747 though!) :)
