Default spoilers at touchdown....and a few more...:)

Greetz to everyone! This is my first post, so I think i'll be brief :). As you can see the topic, my question's about the spoilers auto-deploy at touchdown that actually DO NOT deploy when armed. I have to activate them manually. So, this is another bug? I remember that in FS2k that does not hapenned. Another thing to mention is that, when MS released FS2002, was time to include at least a GPWS system and an easy-to-use weight and balance tool by default...and...many many other things!...but for that we have add-on software to reenforce the meaning of 'as real as it gets'.
So that was my question and a few more of personal opinion.
    I'll do apreciate some feedback.

I think you need autobrake at 1,2,3,or MAX to have spoilers deploy, and autothrottle on to auto engage reverse thrust(?)

Gents, lets get the story strait:

The spoilers DO auto deploy after the rear wheels are BOTH down. Make sure that before you land you hit SHIFT+/ to arm them.

I'm sure I don't think you need the autobrake OR autothrottle on at all...

after the touchdown roll, add a little power and the spoilers will retract and return to full down position.

    give it a go!!:-wave

News flash, Yorky: the spoilers DON'T deploy when armed. I've tried it on every spoiler-equipped airplane in FS2002 and NONE of them work. They did in FS98 and 2000, but not now.

Actually, not *every* plane. Spoilers auto-deploy just like they should in the DreamFleet GA737. Only problem is that every other plane I fly doesn't, so half the time, while meaning to open them just after main gear down, I close them :D

Anyway - at least one plane still has working auto-spoilers.

Oh, and on the Reverse Thrust point - autothrottle doesn't have anything to do with it. Just make sure you've fully retarded the throttles (all the way back on the throttle axis if you've got one on your joystick, and make sure it's calibrated properly; otherwise, F1 to give idle thrust), then hold down (not just press) the F2 key to pull the throttles into reverse. Once below 60kts or so, hit F1 to bring the engines back up to idle and use brakes to finish the rollout.

    See ya in the pattern!

I just did a landing in the 747 AND 777 and my theory WORKS OK??

    It CAN be done!!

Sorry - had no intention of being argumentative. I'm just saying that on my system, following the proper "arm before landing" procedure, I don't recall spoilers auto-deploying on any aircraft in my fleet except the DF737. Then again, haven't flown a whole lot else lately either, minus the AA727 - and I'm pretty sure it didn't auto-deploy either.

Guess I'll have to double-check next time I fly it.

Remember, the auto spoilers in FS are tied to ground contact points AND throttle position.

We all know the `flaky` understanding of the autothrottle has caused many problems as it is NOT THE SAME as it was in FS2000.

For the spoilers to operate correctly, the mainwheels must be on the ground and the throttles retarded to IDLE. The auto-retard in FS2002 is flaky. To make the spoilers work you must have disabled the autothrottles on approach and retard them manually at the flare, then the spoilers work. Every single time. Autobrake has nothing to do with it.

Haven't failed to see them deploy yet since I learned that.

Had that same problem and found the fix. Use the "Create A Flight" startup screen. If you load the sim first, and then switch planes, the auto deploy sometimes gets disconnected. I was getting the "it works on mine!" replys and it was frustrating.

Try going through the create a flight. I actually like it better because I get everything set up in advance, weather, time of day, fuel load, etc...

You can test immediately by Shift-/ and press F2 as soon as it loads.

    Hi again

Just an update on this topic. I HAVE found the trigger. Of cause make sure the spoilers are armed, you can check on the panel, and after the main wheels are down you MUST engage REVERSE thrust and the spoilers pop up on all aircaft i've tryed. Once again adding power after the roll retracts them. Can anyone verify this so I know its not my imagination?

    Thanks
