AIRBUS will deliver more aircraft than Boeing this year so that is maybe the answer...}>

Some of the major carriers are replacing the 747 with the A340 so I guess near the end...

I say time for Boeing to start work on the new 7E7 and continue with two engine aircraft like the 767, 757, and 737. They are all unbeatable when it comes to that market.

There is absolutely no way the the A-380 will succeed...The market for a plane the big is just not there. The biggest passenger loads pretty much fit a 747

Remember the biggest problem with the A380 is the airport infrastructure. Taxiways and ramps need to be enlarged to accomodate lack of turning radius and wingspan. Then Airbus still needs to be able to evacuate the aircraft in less than 90 seconds I believe is the standard.
It may not be impossible, but the more hurdles there are, the more it cost to make the impossible probable.
If I recall correctly guys...we did this discussion months ago...and I believe the moderators put an end to it... We all have our opinions of the A380. The die hard Airbus fans are gonna still maintain it'll be a success...and the die hard Boeing fans...and most other airplane enthusiousts (I know I spelled that wrong...) Are going to keep saying the plane won't be a success until they do tests of the evacuations slides...which Airbus refuses to do because, and I quote "We dont' want people to be injured." Which means it will never fly in the US at least. So maybe we should put an end to the arguement before it begins again...:)

And I will just throw in a point, the A380 and 747 are different planes with different loads. AND how can a A340 replace a 747?? Unless you mean airlines are simply downsizing...?[/font]

Some times this forum needs an agrument like this!!
In the days we live now the A380 is to big for airliners.
When the A380 was ordered for the first time airliners lived in a good time. More and more people were flying, more and more cargo was flown by planes. Nowa days after the 11th of september, the war in Iraq and SARS stopped many people of flying. I think that the A380 can be a huge succes, but only time will tell.
But for a Boeing lover i hope KLM doesnt buy to much of the Airbus types.. The A330 they bought is good enough, i hope they stay with that. ;)
