  1. Real world pilots have strict limits on the amount of time they can fly and managing those hours effectively is part of a pilot’s and airline’s responsibilities. As someone else pointed out, with a flight plan files and autopilot, there’s no need to be at the controls for a full transoceanic flight. I doubt a RW pilot would do it his or herself. Perhaps you can set a weekly time limit and have your son responsible for managing those blocks himself — make it part of the challenge, as it were.
  2. Same thing happened to me. The France update sent me from 100+ to zero. Oddly, my “achievements” weren’t affected so I know how many metres I’ve taxied, how many seconds I’ve flown below sea level, etc.
  3. Did anyone else lose their logbook entry after the update last week? I haven't been flying much lately but just noticed I'm back down to a two-hour pilot with nothing logged from before April 13. Not that it matters too much -- all those seconds logged of flying inverted or viewing animals with the smart cam lost! -- but it is mildly annoying.
  4. That’s the one I’m waiting for too! Or maybe a Twin Otter
  5. LEEE in Spain. 😮 I took off but didn’t bother trying to land.
  6. I took the Bonanza up to tour Mt. St. Helens, flew into cloud, iced up and barely escaped with my virtual life. A white-knuckle flight. Fun though!
  7. Awesome news. Thanks Loki. I spent a lot of time in the Aerosoft Twotter back in FS9.
  8. Does anyone know of any Dehavilland Beavers, Otters or Twin Otters in development? No disrespect to the Icon, but it’s not my aircraft of choice to explore back country lakes and rivers in northern Canada and Alaska. Thanks in advance.
  9. Chosen completely at random, Ghat Libya, and it turned out to some of the most amazing terrain I’ve ever seen in flightsim.
  10. I asked myself this question last week. My MS Sidewinder died a few years ago but I hadn’t really missed it until MSFS arrived and got me back in the game ... er, I mean sim. This Reddit post was enlightening.
  11. Real world weather tonight at Adak (PADK) in the Aleutian Island gives a 46 kit wind. Be sure to choose an aircraft with good anti ice. I chose the King Air. Be prepared for a long float on landing, with or without the latest flaps bug.
  12. Simming has never been quite the same for me since my MS Sidewinder ffb stick died, if only for the “bump” at touchdown :-(
  13. I got an “error, MSFS must be reinstalled” message when I went to update at the MSFS store. I haven’t done so yet. Fingers crossed it goes smoothly. All the previous updates have mor or less just updated automatically.
  14. Nantucket to New London in the C172. It was the latest leg in my tour down the US East Coast ant turned very hairy with an ILS approach in heavy rain to KGON.
