Just my two cents worth... As a test, I installed FS9 on a lowly Dell Studio laptop, 2GHz with 4GB RAM and nothing for a video card running Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit. Ran so-so using the very lowest...
Any ideas?
I should add that this only happens on terrain that is fairly flat. never happens on hills or mountains.

Nope. All stock FS9 stuff.
I came across an out of place (tall) plateau in Central Texas with an airstrip on it. Coming from that area, I can say that it doesn't exist in real life. It's located at +30° 33' 45.60", -98° 34'...
I actually just installed an airport texture upgrade (au7, or something like that), and all is well.
I just realized there are other issues. Landing and taxi lights no longer work on any aircraft. Also, all major airport ALS lights are out. It's as though someone took all of my light bulbs! :(
...
All aircraft, all airports, all runways. It appears to have been a global change. Just to be clear, I am refereing to the red/white approach lights that are now missing.
Not sure what happened, but I no longer have glide slope indicator lights. I've gone through every setting I can find to no avail. Does anyone have any suggestions as to why they would just go away?
