  1. Itmustbesaid - I can provide more detailed pictures of the building and cutting for the pieces of the monitor hood. Let me know and I will post them. Regards
  2. Itmustbesaid asked a really good question about what seats to use. I did some checking on line of the real Cessna aircraft seats versus boat seats and found a huge difference in cost (Aircraft seats are certified=Expensive). But there was not much visual difference when compared side by side. See the attached
  3. Did you decide what to do for the seating? Itmustbesaid: I have several ideas and thoughts. I saw one design I thought would work really well in my combat simulator that I am going to assemble next, but wasn't sure how it would work for my C172 simulator. I will post some of the seat ideas in a blog later this week. I really like the seats that are in one of the videos I found for the CS-1 Stallion but I was unable to find the plans. Best regards
  4. Hello everyone, attached are some progress pictures for my simulator enclosure. It is starting to come together and I have moved into my office. This is the instrument panel installed in my office A little blurry, sorry about that. Here is the inside with the outer covers painted black on the inside. This will be where the three large monitors reside for the outside view. Outside view Still have to remove the instrument panel and paint it gray. I also need to cut, paint and install the outside skins. I will post again on how I accomplished all of this. We are moving to a new house so there will some delays till my next posting, but I will have more room for my work that needs to be done in the new garage.
  5. Darryl, I loved reading your blog, and yes some of us do read the blogs on the website. Especially since I plan on traversing the same route in a couple of years once I finish my C172 simulator currently in progress. I have flown several 737 simulators around the world and I am very interested in building my own someday. I have not revealed this to my wife of 32 years but I am pretty sure she knows my ambitions. After all I just spent a little bit of money traveling to the Flightsimcon 2015 conference in Hartford CT with a connecting trip to Toronto Canada to fly a 737 simulator at Threshold aviation for four hours. I am planning on possibly making flight simulator flying a business here in Arizona since we have a huge aviation base and was one of the only places other than Reno to have our own air races.
  6. I have started working on a CS-1 Stallion by SimSamuari and have posted some pictures below along with some statements. Here is the very beginning with most of the easy stuff cut first. I am not a carpenter but the instructions are very clear and helpful for someone not familiar with working with wood. Here is all of the wood labeled and cut and arranged in a order to my liking. Here are the tall pieces with the curves cut on them. This was easier than I thought it would be. Next was the two small pieces. I tackled the door next and used my floor on saw horses as a build platform since I am very tall and a little older and don't care to bend down much. My next step was the walls. I had a lot work to do on the walls and decided I was only going to have a left door and a open rear. I have a lot of grandsons who are going to want to watch and participate so I needed to make it grandson accessible. Next, I needed to build a sturdy base due to the above comment and because I am a large chap. I decided to use several cross beams and wheels rated at 250 lbs. each. Once this was complete I installed the walls and clamped on the instrument panel to determine what it is going to look like. You can see I added a lawn chair to check it out. My grandson was already sitting behind the yoke making airplane noises. That is a good sign. Next I added the top and made sure it was removable. I desire to be able to move the simulator to wherever I might want to take it so I making sure I bolt or screw things together so I can take them apart later and reassemble somewhere else. That is it for now. Hopefully I can post more pictures next week after I paint the interior studs and add some of the exterior panels. After attending the Flightsimcon 2015 conference last week I have decided to rearrange my instrument panel and hope to have new pictures of the updated version next week as well. Best regards 6-29-2015 I didn't have the stellar weekend I was looking for but I was able to accomplish a few items on my CS-1 Stallion flight simulator. I painted almost everything except the floor which I am going to cover with carpet anyway. Second, I cut out the skin for the top of the simulator.
  7. I just returned from the conference there in Hartford CT and I agree with you that a similar forum in Florida would be a good idea as well as California and Arizona.
