  1. Hi Andrew; Sorry for such a long delay in replying! I hardly ever frequent this forum - I'm always on the Avsim FSX forum.

Anyway - this photo.. it's actually posted on the PPrune site:- (flown in this shot, by Ray Hanna.)

...where you'll find a goodly number of other hitherto-unseen Gnat shots, while being party to many interesting conversations with people that actually flew or worked with (as did I) the Gnat.

Yes - I too have the 2004 Gnat, but it's not very good: it needs some upgrading in all areas to fly in FSX. One can only wish.

    Regards,

  2. Paul,

I was idly looking around flightsim.com wondering where I could look to find out what 'VC' means in file downloads, when I came across your little picture of a Gnat skimming the grass. It is a picture I know well as it is on the back of the 'Red Arrows' ten-year anniversary magazine which I bought at Biggin Hill Airshow, UK, in 1975. I have just taken it off the bookshelf and am looking at it now. Is that where you got the picture from? Inside the magazine is a similar shot in which, judging from the camera angle, the photographer appears to have been lying on the grass with the Gnat about to pass directly overhead at, if it is possible, an even lower height than the first picture. If you are interested I can scan and email it to you. I saw the Red Arrows' superb displays several times in the UK but am unlikely to see them again as I now live in New Zealand.

By coincidence, I have just downloaded a Gnat for FS2004 with Red Arrows livery.

    Happy flying!
