  1. Hi folks! Ok, I did this years ago in FS9 - got a USB keypad and set it up as an autopilot thingy. I needed a bit of assistance getting some of the key assignments set up that weren't in the assignment configurations list, but it was successful thanks to you folks telling me what to add to the *.cfg file (FS9.cfg????).. Similar issue here on FSX - so long since I last did this... I want to assign NUM 8 to BCN lights, NUM 9 to Nav Lights. I'm also having issues setting up a key assignment for the DME swithch. My keypad button works fine in FS9 toggling the DME button on/off, but I've tried both DME related items in the configuration list and neither operate the said button. This is for NUM 3. I was also having a problem with the BAC button. Selecting SHIFT+NUM 9 and 'BAC' button toggles on/off in FS9, however, in FSX this jointly activates the AP APPR light and the Flight Director. Incidentally I have Flight Director as standard NUM 9. Again, all operations fine in FS9. I was a little complicated setting the pad up because FSX has re organised the assignments in the list, so it wasn't a simple process as replicating everything from the FS9 set up list. Just need to know what I needed to add to the ????.cfg file. BTW - long time, but I set upo Mach Hold for SHIFT+NUM 3 in FS.... not sure why as it doesn't do much; isn't it the same as speed hold? Thanks in advance e to everyone. Your assistance is appreciated :)
  2. Recently had to reinstall due to a bit of a mess up my end. Don't know if this is of any use to anyone, but I like many others have the addon scenery issue and blank scenery library installed not listing any added files. I accidentally uninstalled Acceleration, which I assume also took off SP2? The thing is, after that, the add on scenery thing worked 100% perfect. I was able to locate my airport folder, pointed to the scenery file, and it was added very easily without any issues. Now FSX is back up and running with Acceleration/SP2, the add on problem has returned.
  3. Hello, I bought the Traffic 2005 by Just Flight DVD, and I read here that there used to be a free patch/update to run it on FSX, but the links have long gone :( Can anyone assist at all? Thanks
  4. Hi, I saw the accelerator pack. you can get them on Ebay these days. Just downloaded amd-catalyst-omega-14.12-with-dotnet45-win8.1-64bit in meantime and will see how that works out. If not I'll come back and whinge some more LOL! :)
  5. Hi, Running FSX with SP1 no frills, just straight out of the box DVDs. First time flying this new (old) sim :) As regularly reported, there are the usual crashes. Full reports below if anyone can assist... 6. I used FSMETAR which interfaces perfectly with FS9, but I was having problems finding a site to d/l all worldwide METARs to load into FSMetar. FSrealWX Lite seemed like a good solution as it d/l all the worldwide weather, but as pointed out I cant load them back in, and the file is incomparable with FSMetar.
  7. The issue continues. It has no problems downloading and saving the WX text file, but it wont load it back in again at a later date.
  8. I was trying to load the WX file into FSrealWX on an offline computer. I select the load file option, located it, but it doesnt do anything. Even the online system has the same issue.
  9. Hi, I have a problem with FSrealWX lite. I can grab the weather okay, and save it as a WX file. But later, when I come back to FSrealWX lite, and select the Load weather option, even though it's own generated file is i n the list and cliackable, the weather doesnt reload. No airports can be found. Any suggestions? Thanks
  10. Hi! Just wanted to ask if anyone knows of any recent sites or utilities for d/l METAR global weather reports to run through FS9/FSX offline? I use MetarReader in-flight, but it doesn't work online anymore for downloading data, and it doesn't seem to d/l global reports. The re used to be a site for d/l of METAR reports for use in flight sim but it seems to have closed long time ago. Thanks
  11. Thanks for that :) I thought initially if you had all your UK scenery down at 60+ in the list, it wouldn't show up in as good detail as those at the top of the list, becuase it wasn't such a priority in the list. So it doesn't really matter then where in the list everything is - it will still load up in equal quality. Like you say, you just need to get the sequence correct. I have my airports higher than my photo scenery and terrain. As you point out, landmarks and ground objects should go higher up the list.
  12. Hi, Thanks for the reply. I am transferring all to W8 so it's taking a bit of time rebuilding the sim. Like you say, that's how I did things once all the scenery was set up. One .cfg for, in this example, the UK, then another for USA only, or two scnery collections for if I was commuting between two countries. Handy to know that I don't have to keep rearranging the files to the top of the list now, and I can just turn off/on what I need for the .cfg files. Thanks for that and to everyone who replied :) Have a good flight.
  13. Hi, I know about keeping the scenery orders in FS9, but I was wondering about this scenario... As an example, you have priorities 1-10 set to your UK scenery files. Priorities 11-20 are USA. Today you will fly USA. You don't need the UK files to load as you won't be flying there. If you disable priorities 1-10, close the sim, and re start it, even though USA was 11-20 in the priority list, having now disabled the UK files above it - will the sim now make USA the pain priority, even though it is still listed as 11-20, or do you have to move all of the files (slowly) up the ladder so USA is now 1-10, and the UK 11-20? It's quite a slow and laborious task moving priorities about it FS9! Thanks
  14. Hi, Thanks for the reply. I was just about to post an update - a test clean proved very successful. I didn't like the idea of using solvents, especially as they would probably dissolve the lettering paint. Like the dude quoted above, I tried using some good old sodium bicarb. I turned it into a paste, and using a glove covered the flight stick with the sludge and left it for 15 mins. I then got a cloth and used a bit of hot water to damp the end and ground it thoroughly around the stick, re applying the damp cloth with hot water. Next, used the damp cloth to clean up. then took a handful of regular liquid soap and rubbed that around the handle, then cleaned that off with a damp cloth. When it was dry it was back to normal again :) So now I will go around the entire flight stick thingy and that to be the end of the problem :) For the price it's actually a very good flight stick.
  15. Hi, Thanks for your reply. Interestingly, I did try installing the sim on an old Vista machine, then tested the volumes on that. They worked fine, then I spent the next two hours copying the files onto the W8 system, but then I had an idea... My solution was simple and fixed the problem: On my main sim computer (W8) I set both setup.exe files on the DVDs to Vista compatibility mode, and they worked. Problem solved :) Thanks again for your input.
