  1. Hi I am John McEnery. first try at forums. very keen user of Doherty s Difficult and Dangerous approaches. I have downloaded a few other aircraft which I hope I can put into FS 2004. They arrive with separate files for textures etc. how do you go from there and where do they fit into 2004 to become operative please?.
  2. I found the Iris freeware Texan II on the net one day, I notice the instruments do not show at night. This baffles me, but likely would not baffle you. If you can explain it or correct it would you please reply to jrhic@centurytel.net? I moonlighted as an aircraft piloit for 38 years and FSX and flightsim.com appreciably add to my now non-flying retirement. Thank you for any help.,
  3. Hi - Can you help please? I'm not new to FSX (but use FS2009 by preference on account of the lovely FS-Navigator) but hahve just bought Flightsim's Cessna 340 because I have hundreds of hours on the real aircraft. Can I get it to give me a normal pilot's view of the whole panel in front of me like in other aircraft - can I hell! Tried everything - repeatedly prss 'W' - try 3D, 2D, change 'view' in options etc etc. All I can get is a view through the front screen (no panel) or just the instruments of choice but simply can't get a normal pilot's view of everything in front of him like in other aircraft. FSX keyboard short cuts index doesn't help. PLEASE - wht am I not doing to get back to a 'normal' view for standard IFR flight?
  4. Thanx for accepting, Alastair!
  5. Hi Robert, Sorry for the delay in answering - I've only just found your message. If the only problem is the 727 Configurator and T-o-M in Vista64 I suspect the root cause is that these tools were designed for a 32-bit operating system and need to be updated to work in a 64-bit OS. You may get confirmation of this from the developers. Cheers, Alastair
  6. Alastair,

Hello this is Robert Adler, Boomervet by screen name. You had helped me some time ago with my 727 textures problem, that eventually Paul and I brainstormed and got working.

If you get a chance, Since I am not receiving any responses from anyone on my question, can you look at the Dreamfleet 727 forum and my posting on first page, Entitled "727 Config Problem Vista64 Bit",and maybe look at the post, and see if you have any ideas. I sure would appreciate.

My old IBM thinkcenter 8195 running XP service pack 3, finally died with a bad system board.

The flight model and all features except weather radar, work fine, and that I think is a correctable problem..just have not gotten around to it yet loaded fine.

I am trying to figure out why I can't load the 727 configurator, and would appreciate someone with more expertise in the platform than I have to look at it..

    Thanks in advance...

    Robert

  9. Hi Alastair

Just to let you know that the disc arrived safely on Monday, coinciding with my partner hearing she was losing her job, so UT will have to wait as we now have to tighten our financial belts.

At least I have the disc for when the time is right!

    Many thanks once again.

    Best wishes

    Tony

  10. Hi Mutt, Currently the Dakota will not work in Vista 64: http://www.dreamfleet2000.com/Previews/236/purchase_236.html If you have it you could try replacing the supplied Garmin430 with the new RealityXP GNS430W, but I don't know if the other gauges will work in a 64-bit environment. Alastair
  11. Hi Juergen, Your Cold & Dark loading Flight - is it based on the default Cessna ? Generally many of the quality add-ons now use custom coding, and saving Flights can be of dubious quality at best. Perhaps one thing to try is to load the default FS2004/FSX flight (with the Cessna) which should load with the engine running. Shut down all the systems, then save as your Cold and Dark Flight. If you want to then load the Bonanza Cold and Dark load your (default) Cold and Dark Flight then switch to the Bonanza. Certainly in FS2004 loading Cold and Dark is an option with the Configuration Control but if this is proving troublesome in FSX you could try the above as an alternative. Alastair
  12. Hi Alex, I'd love to get some firm confirmation (or otherwise) that the Aurora ever actually existed, but if it ever did this will be a long time coming ! It always strikes me as odd that the superb SR-71 was "retired" so quickly and with so little fuss. Either the official line is true, and the servicing difficulties and "peace dividend" resulted in the retirement, or it was retired because its successor was waiting in the wings. Maybe, one day, we'll find out ! Alastair
  13. Hi Ian, In my experience most major bugs are successfully eliminated during Beta testing, but it isn't until a product is released that its exposed to the full range and variety of systems and software. With both FSX (in all its variations) and Vista there has been an unprecedented level of problems for all major companies, and identifying and solving the problems is taking longer than anyone likes. Your frustration is entirely understandable, but its ten times worse for the software developers ! Hopefully these gremlins will be soon resolved and you will be able to enjoy flying the Dakota like the rest of us ! Alastair
