  1. Success!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thank you Stratocaster 54, your cmd prompt suggestion worked and I got my PMDG MD-11 installed. Must be something in the specific files because I had no trouble with the their 747-400.
  2. I finally got out of XP and into Win10. Did the recommended install - not in the programs file but created C/microsoft games/FS9. Also did the no cd patch, went into properties and selected compatibility as XP and run as administrator. I presume that the admin is active as the desktop shortcut has the admin shield on it. Some of my pay ware installed no problem. Just pointed to the new spot. My PIC 737 says vista/xp but would not get past the install shield part then just ceased to do anything. Tried to install the MD11 and got slammed into the wall of not installed for your protection "see administrator". Even tried to click on and run as admin. Presumed that might work. Even went into the control panel and took that user control thing to lowest setting (presume that is off). Still nothing. No help from the PMDG --#--. They say only 1% of users have difficulty. What is the hack to get my MD11 back?
  3. Thank you all for your input. Maybe I should have mentioned my previous system, then you may understand why the speed issue didn't occur to me until you all brought it up. The Dinosaur: Intel E8500, Gigabyte GAP43ES3G DDR2 1200, 4 GB, Geforce GTX 650TI, Win-XP. Since the issue was brought up I did a bit more looking and have been reading up on the Symlink thingy. This appears to be the path forward once I understand it better. If I understand the concept, the basic FS9 is on the SDD with symlink to the aircraft and scenery folders. I am presuming that the full aircraft and scenery folders are on the HDD. That brings up another item, which drive to put the thrustmaster file?
  4. I am in the same situation with a new system. I have only used single drive in the past. Now with the split install of 240 GB SDD © and 1TB HDD (D), I am not sure which way to go even after reading through some of the posts on the forum. As this setup is primarily for Flight Sim/games, for simplicity, couldn't I just keep ALL FS9 and gaming on the HDD? Just leave the SDD for the OS and security/anti-virus stuff?
  5. Hi Luis; Thank you for the input. Agreed with you on the water cooling so kept looking a bit more. This is the one I finally brought home; AMD Ryzen 7 2700X 3.7GHz / NVIDIA Geforce GTX 1660Ti 6GB / 1TB HDD / 240GB SSD / 16GB DDR4-2666 RAM / Win 10 Home 64-bit Now I just have to figure out the protocols for the HDD vs SSD. Only had one (HDD) drive in my previous systems.......
  6. Finally decided the old box is probably not a good base to expand on. (Intel E8500, Gigabyte GAP43ES3G, Geforce GTX 650TI, Win-XP) I found this one and it appears to be a move up and in my price range. Not being an expert, I'd like some input from you all on this: BUYPOWER Gaming PC Computer Desktop Intel i5-9600K 3.7GHz, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 3GB, 16GB DDR4-2666 RAM, 1TB HDD, 240GB SSD, WIFI Included, Liquid Cooled, Win 10 My main concern is I have some Flight-one stuff, heard their installer does not play well with Win10. My alternate is just stay with the current one and overclock plus move up to Win7 and maybe a new graphics card. Any input or suggestions for changes to the plan would be great fully appreciated.
