  1. Hello, returning to flightsim after quite a few years gap since PrePar3D and FSX. My system is VFR ready PC i7 with a Nvidia 1070 GFX which can run a Occulus Rift easily. Three newbie questions; 1) What version of MSFS2020 should I buy? 2) Is my GFX sufficient? 3) Suggestions on a nice GA aircraft, possibly vintage, with nice flight characteristics? Happy days, Ted.
  2. Hi, Haven't flown flight sim for a few years now. Been waiting on MSFS2020. With the new UK scenery deciding on my upgrade options before purchase. I have a Rift CV1. Are their any negatives to upgrading to the Rift S? I'm looking for better graphics and performance with MSFS2020? I would also like to upgrade my 1070ti GFX. Is this necessary? What would be a sensible upgrade, best bang for buck. Not looking to go silly money. Have a budget 5-600 pounds? Thanks, Ted. p.s. is there still a markey for FSX addons? Looking to sell my (near complete) VFRX scenery for UK.
  3. Mjahn, Hi. I deleted all my C47's in favour of the prePar3D one you mentioned above. This version fixes everything including saounds, co-pilot, textures et al. Many thanks, Ted.
  4. Awesome, thanks for that. I'll try both.
  5. P3Dv4 Do I have to put the gauges in the generic gauges folder?
  6. Hi, I downloaded Douglas_C-47_V3_12_Beta.zip which has some nice additional textures but I'm getting the following errors. Is anyone able to resolve these? They seem to relate to 32 v 64 bit dll's? Thanks, Ted. [error.0] error=C-style gauge failed to load: D:\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v4\SimObjects\Airplanes\Douglas_C-47_Beta_V3.14\panel\dsd_fsx_fuel_dump.dll, Gauge: display. DLL is 32 bit. 7. I shall recite the last four weeks of my life. Week1. Got excited again now that P3Dv5 and MSFS2020 are nearing release. Dug out the old discs. reinstalled P3Dv4. Week2. Re-installed all my scenery and purchased the final few gaps. Week 3. Had to rewire and clean behind the PC. Cleaned and re-connected all my controllers. Setup VR. Week 4. Spent the entire week trying to get all my scenery installed. Tweaking. Frigging about. Broke the sim twice. More frigging, more tweaking. More scenery. So in essence I keep the sim interesting with the constant struggle of trying to get everything to work. In between I enjoy brief flights.
  8. Hello, Question 1. Anyone have the cd versions, that's the v1 cd versions, of Gen-X Earth Simulations Scilly Isles and Alderney? Have you been able to install by bypassing the annoying and rather defunct online verification process, ESI installer? Obviously this no longer works as Earth Sims are defunct. Question 2. You can use 7-Zip or similar to extract the scenery however try as I might I cannot get two of the areas to install and the cfg files are all encrypted. They just hang the sim (I'm using P3D however assume it's the same process to FSX). Anyone worked out how to install these from the discs and can explain what to do ? Annoying as I have all the other areas installed no problem (excluding Isle of Man and Guensey). Thanks, Ted.
  9. Gen-X works with PrePar3Dv4. Is v5 radically different then?
  10. Just getting back into flight simming after a break of, well since MS stopped supporting flightsim. Toyed with PrePar3D but is just more of the same. Been playing with VR. Have returned due to FS2020 sparking my interest again. If MS's new sim can offer improved flight dynamics. Good weather and scenery but most of all, VR then I'll probably buy it. However I'm waiting for the reviews after launch before I do.
