  1. latency is the addition of distance in a medium and signalling speed. A satellite signal travels much faster, than the same signal on fiber optic or cable. And at the same time 150mbit signal will only need a 1/10th of the time to send the same signal as a 15mbit. And those are just the things you can hold constant :)
  2. MS said the new xbox exclusives for next gen won't be out until next year. Whether that includes FS2020 I don't know. But I'm willing to pay to beta test!
  3. "Any customer can have a car painted any color that he wants so long as it is black." - Henry Ford...
  4. The demographic you should be looking at is there are probably just as many so called "hardcore" users are there are people who would never use it. actual normal distributions notice the symmetry as well on the polar ends :)
  5. Depends where you are coming from.. I guess as a GTA fan this is a dream come true :) I think to get a better idea of what's in store you should check out the awards. Quite a bucket list , and some of them certainly impossible with the given aircraft. Can any of those aricraft actually do Mach 3, i think you need auto rudder for that? Or carry 100,000 or whatever passengers? That's going to take awhile in the two seaters...
  6. In computing, DirectInput is a Microsoft API for collecting input from a computer user, via input devices such as the mouse, keyboard, joystick or other game controllers. It also provides a system for action mapping, which allows the user to assign specific actions within a game to the buttons and axes of the input devices. Additionally it handles force-feedback (input/output) devices. Microsoft introduced a new input library called XInput in DirectX 9 (December 2002) specifically for the Xbox 360 controller. -wikipedia XInput is an API that allows applications to receive input from the Xbox 360 Controller for Windows. This document describes the differences between XInput and DirectInput implementations of the Xbox 360 Controller and how you can support XInput devices and legacy DirectInput devices at the same time. -MSDN Now jim.. you need to understand one thing... I'm the evil Bill, So don't try to put me down because I like to share, I'm just not as refined at my age. But the fact is I own all three of those controllers as well as a 360, and I know that if you buy a game off steam you best look for the icon that indicates it supports the 360 controller. Not a problem since most games were initially written using the Xinput libraries these days because they were intended for the 360 not the PC. So no you just can't assume your 360 controller will work with every game you buy for the pc. And no FSX doesn't take advantage of the full capabilities of the 360 controller it's an emulation at best. :)
  7. Sorry I don't work in retail.. nor do I control prices MS does. And if they want people to buy Xbox controllers next month I'm not surprised they changed the prices. The fact remains FSX does not support all the features because you actually need the Xlibraries, not the DirectX ones.
  8. One note though, the actual Xbox controller is wireless by default. The one that works with the PC is a wired controller and costs a few bucks more. There's actually 3 controllers the wireless, the wired, and the hybrid charger. I would recommed the simple wired one as the hybrid needs a working battery to function. Also FSX didn't recognize all the analog coponents found on the xbox controller, in fact only 1 out of 4 work. I believe you also can't use the D-pad either... So aside from the buttons and one analog stick the Xbox controller is pretty limited for FSX although I've had a friend fly VATSIM with it so it's not entirely useless. I think that's why they are emphasizing the Xbox controller this time around as it will actually recognize all the components, not just the ones that translate to the the PC world by default.
