  1. I used FS9 all the way up to FS2020's release. I understand everything that's mentioned here. I had my setup looking just as good as FSX without the tweaking performance headaches of FSX. I always knew the steep hardware requirement for FSX was smoke and mirrors that actually had people accepting as fact that extreme hardware was actually needed for modern sims to platform well. The kicker is no matter what you threw at FSX it didn't perform well. The reality was FSX was coded badly and never fixed before Steve Ballmer axed the Aces team. P3D suffers the same issue despite Lockheed's best effort do to it being FSX for the most part. LH was never able to have full access to the code to make proper modifications in the way Asobo has. Fast forward FS2020 came along and validated what proper coding looks like even with it's various nuance issues upon release. So now I keep my rig with FS9 installed just in case the party's over with FS2020 (loony new management that usually upends a good thing to justify their new positions). FS2020 suffers from too much corporate control on the back end. It's always an advantage to have your own CD's, installers, etc to keep going should the parent company pull the plug on the franchise. With FS2020 your dead in the water the day Microsoft decides to shut off the servers. Now that XPlane 12 has come along which looks and functions like a cross between FS9 and FS2020 we have our fall back. So FS9 may officially get uninstalled after all this time on my end but for reasons I just outlined I understand why some are still using it and it makes since. XPlane 12 for me will be that same reasoning.
  2. Asobo's CEO promised trees and other objects as far out as the eye can see and this is especially needed now with VR. Instead in 'Sim Update 3' someone on the Asobo team not only reverted things but further reduced the limit as to how far autogen can be seen in the distance. They also blocked modding fix the issue so the result is a visible ring around the aircraft as you fly along. This is a I huge step backwards and the block is the icing on the cake. This monthly changing of the sim is really getting old: https://forums.flightsimulator.com/t/trees-lod-after-sim-update-3-no-fun-anymore/376917
  3. Voteable thread: https://forums.flightsimulator.com/t/we-need-the-bouncing-autopilot-fixed-in-next-patch-petition/298241
  4. As much as we are trying to support this sim we need to take a stand here. Asobo broke a key function of FS2020 and looking at the patch notes there's no mention of a correction in the next patch. We as a community figured out how to fix many things do to the lack of something I really don't know going on at Asobo. The community figured out how to improve the A320, CJ4, G36, and KingAir. In the last patch because of complaints by a few in the community about tree height ASOBO screwed up the LOD distance rendering trying to fix the issue for 'some' leaving very talented people here to not only fix that issue but address the tall building issue. The last major thing from 1.9 is the bouncing autopilot and it looks like we'll be waiting till who knows when when that will be fixed (not mention of a fix in the coming update). This is not acceptable. We can give Asobo a little space knowing this sim was released early but you can't break what was already working and just leave it. I setup a thread in the official forums: https://forums.flightsimulator.com/t/we-need-the-bouncing-autopilot-fixed-in-next-patch-patition/298187 Please show your support in being very vocal in getting Asobo to correct the things they break.

  6. Posting this from another forum. Everyone including myself has been so busy flying around looking at scenery no one has done a true IFR flight. I just struggled through a CJ4 flight with an autopilot that struggled to maintain climb angle only to find when I got to my destination ATC just vectored me past the runway and never vectored me back to the airfield. This was a visual approach not even IFR. Tried this a few more times with different airports and there is a problem with ATC vectoring the aircraft to the airport for short final or IF approach. Default ATC has been a mainstay since FS2k2, I hope this is addressed. I put in a ticket with MS to get some eyes on this, hope it does.
