So I got FSX And installing it now. :D Last time I played a Flight sim was last year when I played MSFS 98, and when i joined here. :P

Is the site up and running again or should i still have caution with the packages?

I purchased both from the FS Pilot shop, and can find numerous links on what is in the updates, but nothing on how to get the update itself without purchasing both products again. Can someone help me?

Does anyone know where I might be able to find instrument procedures (DPs, STARs) in machine-readable format, at least for the waypoints and transitions (for now I'm fine with the narratives, altitude requirements, special remarks, etc. not being present)?

Have forum activities been increasing or decreasing over the past 20 years?

Why? I would like to know your individual opinions.

Just bought FTX PNW and it wont run FTX central. It comes up with an error which states it cant find the terrain.cfg? I installed this in a separate folder than FSX. It is on the same drive however. Anybody know what my problem is? I also have Ultimate terrain if that matters.

I tried going to the orbx forums but the website doesn't seem to be working right for me.

As ORBX has announced in future that all their products will be download only/will stop making DVDs (not good for me, as a 2GB file download, OUCH, on my limited internet), I was just going to put this out for a bit of discussion. Who still buys DVDs of flightsim products?

Bought Windows 7 after a long use with XP. Loaded through an external hard drive some 250+ FS9 aircraft. I am not sure if it was from doing a Recovery or installing a backup point or what, but ALL my aircraft cfg. files are gone. Anyone know if there is a way of reinstating them?

Don't get too excited. It's not that I ever flew the Cougar F9F-8. Well, in my mind I did. Growing up in Wall Township, N.J. in the late 60's early 70's there was a Cougar F9F-8 on display at the Post Office Park where we played for hours on end.

I remember sitting in the cockpit, crawling through the engine intakes, hanging out in the fuselage and sitting on the wings and the tail (which at the time seemed to be 50ft in the air). There were still instruments, a control stick, wires and tubes running everywhere.



I would dream at night about flying that jet when I was a kid. As far as dreams go it was one of my favorites. I moved away later in the 70's and always wondered what had happened to that plane. One day recently I was reading some news stories dealing with aviation related stuff and ran across this http://starnewsgroupwall.wordpress.c...ane-park-fame/! There it was!



It was just on an odd chance that I would run across this and remember it so well. After reading the article it was as if 40 years of time had just vanished and I relived a part of my youth. This was most certainly one of my fondest childhood memories and although maybe not that interesting, I thought I would share it. I hope someday to get to the Intrepid museum and see it again along with all the other interesting sights (http://www.intrepidmuseum.org/).

I also found this video. Notice they say it was removed for "insurance purposes" in 1987. Lord knows kids can't have the same fun we did without the threat of lawsuits anymore. Hell, I can still remember the petroleum smells and all kinds of sharp surfaces. What more could a kid want?
