Hi,

Please point me in the correct direction if this has been covered, but a quick search and i cant see anything.

Ive been trying to add animated jetways to my airports, using 'jetway01' in ADE, they appear at the gates no problem and certainly look the part, but never move to the aircraft. I know it is possible because ive seen some of the standard FSX jetways at say Heathrow and JFK move, also it appears that only some aircraft allow for animated Jetways.

Can someone please clarify that it is possible to have animated jetways, does they only work with specific aircraft
and is it possible to get them animated continuously. Do i need to use another programme, etc?

Thanks,
Dave.

Hello everyone,

First off, I just want to introduce myself. My name is Brandon and I am from Ohio, USA. I have been into aviation and flightsimming for many years now. My friend and I are wanting to take our flightsimming to the next level by developing some of our own scenery but we have never touched this aspect of the Flight Sim world. I basically am in search of a point in the right direction to where I need to start this venture. I have gotten FSX SDK installed and have toyed around with it very little. One thing for sure I want to know is how to add additional objects to the Object Placement Tool from addon libraries such as RWY 12 and other ones of the same sort.

I am looking for all the written and video tutorials I can find. There is so much I want to do but I know it's going to take a long time and a lot of patience to get to where I wish to be. What all software should I be downloading and working with. I need all the information I can get and hope that some of you are willing to lend a helping hand.

Thanks in advance to all of you fellow flightsimmers. Have a WONDERFUL day!

- Brandon

Airport scenery has several .bgl files?

I recently downloaded an airport and it has several .bgl files in the scenery folder, as opposed to just one file that has the entire airport...

I recently downloaded an airport and it has several .bgl files in the scenery folder, as opposed to just one file that has the entire airport compiled into a single .bgl.

Of those several files, one of them is the bgl file of the airport itself, and I easily opened it using Airport Design Editor. However, when I try to open the other bgl files, they give me an error message "The file does not contain an airport. ADE will not load it"

Is there any way I can open such BGL files or view them?

Here is the image (http://i41.tinypic.com/8vrpeq.jpg)

Now I want to understand the logic behind such developments, because I want to become a good scenery designer myself. I see that one of these .bgl files is named as layer3taxiways. How can a bgl file be designed separately as a taxiway? Also, this airport has a terminal, which is not visible in the main airport bgl file, so that means that it has a separate bgl file too. In fact, there is a separate bgl file for taxilights and frequency as well.

How is this really possible, and what software is used to achieve this? I have FS Design Studio which can create 3d objects, but I do not really know how I would integrate it into the main airport scenery file.

Any answers/help is appreciated. Thanks!

Hello, I am new in this forum. I use FS2004 and I have been trying to design sceneries for some airports in Bolivia. I am so new, that I don't think I will be able to learn about new the different design programs for now, however, I have the Abacus EZ scenery program, and it works the best for my purposes.
Bolivia is one of the countries where you can still see many Curtiss C-46 and old DC-3s in derelict state. I have been looking at one airport in particular, SLTR, Trinidad. It has a C-46 and a DC-3 right at the edge of the main ramp. You can even see it on Google Earth. So far, I have been able to duplicate the airport and the various buildings in the area, but, I would love to include those static planes. Can someone help me finding the C-46 and DC-3 as static aircraft?.
I attempted to use CalClassic propliners models, but, they are made for AI traffic only and they seem to be too "heavy" as static aircraft.
LatinVFR created the "El Alto" International airport, SLLP, and they have used the C-46s, but, not the DC-3 (C-47).
Thanks for your time:)

I have just uploaded a file for download named sw_pacific_airdromes.zip. It is an official USAAF guide to all USAAF Airdromes in the SW Pacific Area as of December 1944. It includes detailed airdrome maps with Lat, Long, runway and hardstand drawings, runway length, width, magnetic headings and runway composition. Addition information such as landing pattern, usage, type of aircraft and facilities available is sometimes included.

There is an area map showing routes and mileage between each airdrome.

This document is a must for designers of WW II airbase scenery. In addition, it is an interesting document from an historical perspective.
I hope that you check it out and enjoy it.

Maamigili Airport (IATA: VAM - ICAO: VRMV) is located on the island of Maamigili in the Alif Dhaal Atoll (also known as Ari Atholhu Dhekunuburi) in the Maldives and was opened on 1st October 2011. The airport resides at an elevation of 6 feet (2 m) above mean sea level. It has one runway designated 9/27 with a concrete surface measuring 1,800 by 30 metres (5,906 ft × 98 ft).

This airport is truly a step in the right direction for Maldivian Aviation. The Airport is owned by the Villa Intl Corporation and is served by the airline FlyMe Maldives. (Which is also owned by the Villa Intl Corp.)

The airport sees 7 Daily flights from the capital city of Male on ATR42-500's and 600's, As well as 2 Weekly flights from Gan, Maldives. The 1800M runway is large enough to accommodate a 737 or A320 jet and the airport expects jet service in the near future with possible candidates being Sri Lankan and Air India.

As of right now there is nothing in terms of scenery for either FS9 or FSX. I have some experience creating airports using AFX however I seriously lack the skills to model the islands and create the photoreal textures. My original intentions were to add the airport to the FSX default island using AFX however the land wasn't in the right position and nothing close to real life.

I would love if someone could help me complete this little project, or at least pitch in with the Photoreal scenery.

My main intentions are to re-create the Island of Maamigili in Photoreal scenery then accurately place auto-gen buildings, trees, ect. Then complete the airport with a realistic terminal building and adding the FlyMe aircraft hangar. After this i would like to do photoreal scenery for the surrounding islands within 15 Km of the main island of Maamigili.

It really isn't too big a project but I would love to fly in and out of this beautiful, one of a kind airport.

Here is the area of photoreal scenery I would like...

The Google Earth imagery isn't the greatest but the bing maps is a lot better.

Attached is all the best pictures I have gathered of the airport, please feel free to take a look and if you would like to help me out, post here or shoot me a PM.
