Now Flight Sim Pilots Can Soar The Skies Above Their Favorite
US Cities
SOUTH CAROLINA, 30 December 2004. PC Aviator Inc, publisher of
MegaScenery scenery for Microsoft Flight Simulator, today announced
the release of a new scenery product line titled MegaCITY USA 2005.
Where MegaScenery brings users large areas of photorealistic
scenery using satellite imagery at 5 meters per pixel, MegaCITY USA
2005 will have Flight Simulator pilots soaring the skies above
major US cities that have been created from higher resolution
aerial photographs at 1 and 2 foot per pixel resolution. Consumers
need to understand that Flight Simulator 2004 itself only displays
at a maximum resolution of 5 meters per pixel however since the
source images were taken at the higher resolution a lot of this
detail is retained even after resampling to 5 meters per pixel.
The end result is much clearer and crisper urban landscapes for
PC flying where a lot of intricate detail is visible right down to
the level of individual trees on golf courses. Cities and their
surrounding areas look just like they do in real life as MegaCity
scenery replaces the generic tiled scenery native to Microsoft
Flight Simulator 2004 with high resolution images of the actual
cities.
The company plans to release a number of cities throughout 2005
with the first two titles to be released before the end of January
2005. The first title will be MegaCity San Francisco and the second
has not yet been announced.
MegaCITY USA 2005 is created by Aerosoft Australia Pty Ltd,
developers of MegaScenery. As a result, MegaCITY will have all of
the advanced and unique features delivered in their MegaScenery
titles including Night Scenery, high resolution underlying mesh
terrain, Winter Snow Scenery (where appropriate), real water bodies
and relocation and realignment of default Flight Simulator
objects.
MegaCITY titles will be available on CD-ROM and will be at a
very reasonable price of $24.95.
The first title - MegaCITY San Francisco will ship on 24 January
2005.
More information, including the recently released screenshots,
and an opportunity to preorder direct, is available for viewing at

MegaCITY USA and MegaScenery USA is created and developed by
Australian company Aerosoft Australia Pty Ltd and published by PC

This is a view of Marin County above Mill Valley looking towards
the Golden Gate. That's the inlet to San Francisco Bay, not the
park. In this view, you see the slopes of Mt. Tamalpais in the
foreground. The trail on the left leads to the peak of Mt. Tam.
Angel Island is at 9 o'clock far left. Sausalito is 9 o'clock just
left of center. The Marin Headlands are at 3 o'clock right of
center. The Pacific Ocean is on the left and the Bay on the right.
The narrow in between is the Golden Gate. The south side of the
Golden Gate right is Land's End. That thin strip of green south of
Land' End is Golden Gate Park. Beyond that is the Sunset adjacent
to Ocean Beach and the Richmond District to the left. Moving down
Ocean Beach, you can see the San Francisco Zoo (another green spot)
and continuing farther south you can see Fort Funston's headlands
that are part of the Golden Gate National Recreation Area. If you
look really hard you can almost make out the hang gliders flying
above the cliffs. On the Bay side of the Golden Gate, you can just
make out Fort Point on the left side of The Gate. The bridge is
obscured by the mountains at this angle. Moving left of Ft. Point
you can make out Crissy Field which was once a US Army Air Corps
air base, then Coast Guard Air Station and has finally been return
to its natural state of sand dunes, marsh grasses, wetland and lots
of sea birds. The green behind that is The Presidio. You can see
Nob Hill, Russian Hill and clearly make out the Transamerica
Pyramid. Chinatown and the cable cars require a little closer pass
over The City. The smaller Island at 10 o'clock left of center is
Alcatraz. Behind Alcatraz you can see the Oakland Bay Bridge
connecting San Francisco at The Embarcadero with Treasure Island
and on to Oakland. The Port of Oakland appears just behind Treasure
Island. TI, by the way, is an artificial landfill island that is
left over from the 1914 International Exposition, for which it was
built. Best views of the city anywhere are from its shores.
