People contact us with concerns about the speed of their connection or download speed from FlightSim.Com. Since our servers are monitored 24 hours a day it's rare that there be any long term problem at our end, but it's not unusual for various parts of the Internet to be slow from time to time and that will affect your connection to some, but often not all, web sites.
One of the most common problems with speed is actually a bug in the Internet Explorer 8 browser. If you see pages loading slowing and use IE8 look in the browser's lower right corner. You should see a percentage. If the percentage is anything other than 100% pages will load slowly. Use the menus to set it back to the default of 100%.

The first diagnostic will test your speed connecting to FlightSim.Com. The second is a link to a testing service that can test your connection to anywhere on the Internet.

Directions: Click the "Start" button in Windows and enter "cmd.exe" in the search window and press Enter. At the command prompt, type "tracert www.flightsim.com" followed by the Enter key. Once it has completed and returned to the prompt, click the icon in the upper left hand of the window, click Edit and then "Select All". This will reverse video the window. Then, click the same icon, click "Edit" and then "Copy". You can now paste the output into your email and send it to us. Please do not forget to add your IP address to the email.
