CEO and Developer David Kinney commented, "I am delighted to be developing this combat simulation module add-on for the DCS World combat arena, one that is well established, and growing. I have for some time wanted to provide the combat flight simulation community with a highly accurate simulation including photorealistic graphics, both inside and outside the aircraft. and equally important, I want to provide accurate flight dynamics that will give the pilot as real an experience as possible. I am looking to develop a range of aircraft that are in line with the customers preferences, and maintain the high standards of other DCS aircraft. This is truly the first step in bringing 5th generation air combat to the to the combat flight simulation community."

DCS: World is a new, free, combat simulation. DCS: World provides a free-to-play Su-25T ground attack aircraft with unlimited online restrictions. Online DCS: World includes friendly and enemy forces that can be controlled by other players or AI air and ground units. The purchase of additional DCS modules allows the player to have careers as pilots of the A-10C Warthog, KA-50 Black Shark attack helicopter, P-51D Mustang, or armor vehicle commander. They want customers to support the development....by pledging donations....if they dont get $75,000 pledged then they will not be starting the project. I personally find that just a bit disturbing......

Bitch, bitch, bitch. That's all I see people do!!! Nobody is knocking on your door requesting money. You want to pledge, great...if not, that's fine too. Nobody is twisting your arm.
And good lord...complaining about a NEW aircraft, because it's not an aircraft YOU want. If it's not what you want, build it your friggin self, and quit whining.

Good luck DCS. Hope the F-35 has the complexity of your A-10, which is blast to fly.

The goal of every pilot real or virtual is to take to the skies and push the edge of the envelope on aircraft superiority. The mission simple fly your heart out whether its mission oriented or free flight. The F-35 yes has had its share of problems. However upon further reflection i can't recall an aircraft fighter or otherwise that didn't have its own unique issues. Agreed if you don't wish to donate do or don't no worries and for those who do. You will be there to enjoy the up and downs of aircraft development. It is only through taking an aircraft real or virtual through its paces we discover what needs to be either tweaked or completely overhauled. Good luck to all PILOTS and DCS just keep it moving along. Be safe folks.

This here is about a 3rd party developer who makes the F-35.

But F/A-18 are also on the way! Both, by an other 3rd party developer AND by Eagle Dynamics themselfs (different versions of the F/A-18)! Which will be released when ...? I don't know. But there are now several partys developing planes ... in parallel!

cool. I did not know there was an F-18 in dev. I heard a rumor but never saw anything official. I dont think expecting people to pledge donations is going to get anywhere, but advertising an F-18/E on the way would draw some big interest. Take pre-orders on that! If VRS is involved with the F-18 then this will go big real quick. I don't there is going to be a big F-35 following anytime soon. It needs time to grow on people as it begins it real life operational service.

This all sounds like Roberts Space Industries and Space Citizen.

At the end of the day, no matter how much the Dev tries to sell the old chestnut "I am doing this for the love of the genre and your money makes it possible" it's all down to money in the Dev's back pocket.

I am on the fence, either this will be the death knell of DCS as more Dev's follow suite or if the Flight Sim community get their collective heads around this rather new-ish way of getting new products available it could see a leap forward in Sim development
      .
As I say, I am on the fence, I don't know really what to think about the business model.

To see almost a 1/4 of a mil donated before the start of work on the international aircraft is too steep a hill.

The subject matter is not the most popular of aircraft (cue flame war), I feel that there were far more important, historical (F-14A and Bombcat variants to cater A-A and A-G for instance), aircraft that could have been modeled before the F-35. Personally I think the likes of RAZBAM and IRIS got it right with their intentions for DCS. I reckon that Mr. Kinney will be disappointed as his goals for financing will fall short, the F-35 will fail to draw enough interest for many reasons. I sincerely hope to be proved wrong... But...

Snake if I am to be accused of "bitching" then so be it, this is a public forum and I reserve my right, just as everyone else, to make my opinionated comments.

I will not be paying up front for the F-35.

I think this will hurt the DCS platform...heck how can they even properly model it and it weapon system when the real one is still mostly classified and not 'fully in service'. The F/A-18 would have been a much better choice.
