U.S. Department of Education and Federal Aviation Administration Join Think Global Flight Education Initiatives
U.S.A., January 29, 2013 - The U.S. Department of Education (DOE) and Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) join Think Global Flight's education initiatives through interagency collaborative efforts. Anthony Fowler, DOE, and James Brough, FAA National Aviation and Space Education Manager are among twelve other industry and education leaders serving on the Think Global Flight Advisory Council.
The Advisory Council efforts focus on education outreach efforts and generating the additional remaining funds needed to complete the around the world flight beginning from Sun 'N Fun air show, April 2014. Think Global Flight has successfully generated almost 1 million in-kind and cash donations with the remaining $200,000 needed for fuel visiting participating schools across the globe.
Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association (AOPA), Guidance Aviation, Cirrus Aircraft, Jeppesen, Sennheiser, Live Your Dreams Scholarships, The Abingdon Co., Windward Aviation, iFlightPlanner, Garmin, Gulf Coast Avionics, SpiderTracks, Aerox, Ken Cook Co., and many other individual donors have all recently submitted their support for Think Global Flight, the around the world flight to promote S.T.E.M. education and aviation in a Cirrus SR20G3, donated by Guidance Aviation.
Craig Fuller, AOPA President, states, "AOPA is proud to support Think Global Flight as they travel around the world using general aviation to inspire students to study science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. By exposing young people to flying and motivating them to succeed in school, this program is a great way to spark the passion for aviation that will help the next generation of pilots and aviation professionals live their dreams."
This April 9 - 14, at the Sun 'N Fun air show in Lakeland, FL., the Cirrus SR20 G3 the flight crew, Captain Judy Rice and Navigator Nauer, will be meeting with current and prospective donor-sponsors as well as engaging young people and discussing the promises of education and aviation.
