    Attending WarBirds Con '99

Hybrid Rudders Good Ole Duct Tape Throttle Up

Hardware was everywhere and it appeared it came in all shapes and sizes. If it didn't, no problem, people just made their own. Some of the most exotic came in the shape of this custom rudder system which looked like you could afford to manufacture it, but could afford to build it. The joystick in the middle picture appeared to be in for a serious ride. On the right you notice the F-16 Thrustmaster throttle used by many of the pilots at the convention. This sat to their left and a joystick on the right.

Hardware, emblems and shirts were not the only thing these people could think of in order to stay in the mood for the fight. Below you see a couple screen shots used for wallpaper. Lots of people had different kinds they had made from missions they flew or kills they made. I had to look rather close at several of them thinking it must be a photo, only to realize it was a screen shot from the WarBirds program. Sort of reminded me of the real World War II ace Mel Paisley who collected real film footage of his own kills.
