Where In The World 36?
By Ron Blehm
Within the last six months I have had several dozen requests to make this more challenging - there are many nations with airports next to a large, natural, fresh-water lake. This wasn't in India or Tanzania, it was actually Valencia, Venezuela. Anyone who followed the link to www.toomuchfs.com would have seen that this was the featured hub for our Flight of the Month in October! It was recommended by Alejandro Irasquin who works at the airport. The photo was taken by Ivan Nesbit and appeared on www.airliners.net Alejandro and I both contacted Ivan and got his blessing to use his photo here. Everyone who flew Alejandro's feature in October would have been easily able to name this one!
Only those guessers who got this one right are listed below (only about 45% of my responses were right which means that only about twelve guys were brave enough to even try!)
To answer those who may insist that Maracaibo in Venezuela is larger, please note that Maracaibo is directly connected to the ocean and effected by its currents so it is not entirely fresh-water - it's more like a bay with a really narrow mouth.
Number 36 comes from Brad Quiring in Canada who writes, "There should be more than enough information in the photos to answer the where question." So, there you have it. See what you can see!
