    Where In The World 11?

    By Ron Blehm

I don't live too many hemispheres away from the Osoyoos in the southern Okanagan valley of B.C. but I had never heard of the place. I'm not sure how this ties into the Sonoran Desert of Mexico and Arizona but hey, I don't write these things. I did do a search and learned that the Osoyoos receives more pure sunshine in summer than does Barbados in the Caribbean!

About 77% were able to get this one right and that, again is pretty awesome! I also looked up some fun information (maybe) about a couple of the wrong guesses:

    • The Salton Sea is the lowest point in North America
    • Lake Havasu is one of the warmest lakes in the world (great for water skiing!)

Here are the brave ones that guessed this round:

    Rodrigo Garnier = Central America
    Drew Dampier = N. America
    Nelson Dell = N. America
    James Sealey = N. America
Frank McFall = N. America (who according to my calculations is scoring 100% so far on these challenges)
    Jeff Tham = N. America
    David Ramsey = Europe
    Bob May = Europe
    Marek Guman = Europe
    Drew Hosick = N. America
    Johan Gelderloos = Europe
    Otto Hans = Europe
    Ted Freeman = Oceana
    Richard Hunt = N. America
    Mick Mitchell = N. America
    Gordon Newel = N. America
    Stanley Losiewicz = N. America
    Steve Blanchard = N. America
    D.J. Douglas = N. America
    Jay Ward = N. America
    Dennis Cunningham = N. America
    Pete Horne = N. America
    Mack Bryan = N. America
    Robert Nagy = N. America
    Mike Butorac = N. America
    Stephen Cursley = N. America
    Ray Watters = N. America
    Jim Stein = N. America
    Geir Osttveit = Europe
    Bruce Russell = N. America
    David Skinner = Oceana
    Sam Jerrett = Europe
    Stanley May = N. America

Our next submission (above) is, geographically speaking, not too far away and Gordon Kennedy writes, "This small North American city has a large population of immigrant Finns." Also, "In the 19th century some famous travelers camped near here, near the mouth of a large river." I'll add that this city also has one of the largest collections of homes registered by the National Historical Society. I've included an example from the web (right) but it shouldn't be a give-away - at least I hope not! So, as usual, we'll ask you, where in the world are these photos from?

Please submit guesses or future submissions* to: cubflounder@gmail.com

Finally, we like to review the rules for submitting photos to this "contest":

    1. This must be a real-world photo taken by or of you (no internet photos)
    2. Photos may be new or old but should clearly show the subject matter (Scenic vistas or cool architecture are good ideas)
    3. You must include a written clue and a sim photo - submit everything to: cubflounder@gmail.com
    4. Please give us your name, what continent you are from and the real, correct answer

*We reserve the right to accept or refuse any photo submissions.
