View Full Version : I'm Back.....with the beautiful new Antonov AN-24B
04-09-2003, 05:28 PM
Hi All...I've been on vacation the past week or so, and just to get back in the swing of things, I downloaded this sweet new Antonov AN-24 last night.
I can definately see myself doing some repaints of this one! My only regret is that it isn't the later version with the twin ventral fins. Most of the ones I've been wanting to paint are of that version. Oh, and no pilots :(
It comes with four nice paints already, and is a real nice visual model too. You can find it on this site.
Cheers, and good to be back!
Wow Chuck, that's a great one! Awesome pics of this Russian turboprop! Thanks for posting and as i've said already: Welcome back!

LAST EDITED ON Apr-09-03 AT 06:37PM (EDT)[p]Thanks Guys! Got back yesterday around 5:30 PM. The vacation was awesome...I couldn't have asked for a nicer place to go to. Costa Rica is reason enough to get an airline job! ( As if you needed MORE reasons!) It was a bit hot, but definately one of the most beautiful places on earth. I have some pictures I took that I'll scan and get posted maybe later tonite.
In the meantime, here's a few more pics of another one of the livery's that it comes with. It's an old Aeroflot scheme that I'll have to learn more about.
EDIT: duplicate pic!

Great shots Chuck! :) And welcome back, where can I get that sweet plane? Really sad there aren't to many quality russian planes released.

Great shots! That's a great plane too. Unfortunately my 56K modem means I'll need to set a bit of time aside to download it!

Thanks for the "welcome back" guys!
Yeah, I must say I'm a bit smitten with this new plane, it's very well done, and I recommend it if you're into props. It is available here at this site, can't remember the file name off hand, but a quick search for Antonov AN-24 will get you the plane. There's also a couple new skins available for it already as well. I have a couple planes in the paint shop I need to finish, then I'll be doing a couple of these, I think.
Have a good day :)

Glad you're enjoying this gem of a model. I haven't flown my YS-11's since I got this one!
I've noticed a couple things since I first posted that has got me tinkering a bit with it. Tell me...are you able to see the airspeed gauge? If so, can you read it? I went ahead and added an easily read gauge that reads in knots so I can fly it with some "accuracy." I also added a new altimeter as well. I'm also upgrading the cockpit with things I like such as the gps and icons for map view, kneeboard, autopilot, reference chart, etc. I'm thinking of adding a landing gear extension knob as well. Let me know your thoughts on this. I can tell you how to do it if you're interested.
