Continuing on my recent track of Cessna 421 enjoyment, I have just taken the Golden Eagle from KRHI to KOSH. The flight was quite enjoyable, and I was lucky to have brought a lot of reserve fuel, because I hit some very strong headwinds on the flight down. Luckily I landed with about 40 gallons total spares.

So now to the flight!

Holding short and checking for any traffic on finals (RHI is uncontrolled, so sadly there would be none but I can indulge myself :))-

Turning onto course and starting climb-

Taking in the beautiful scenery-

Encountering some heavy weather, some slight icing but its nothing the 421 can't handle...I hope-

Very nice view from the inside, its always nice to be one with the clouds-

Now the clouds are actually starting to scare me...they're getting quite dark-

Ominous-

Besides some high stratus clouds, it's cleared up around KOSH, a view from the passenger cabin over the wing as we're getting ready to start our approach on ILS RW36-

Starting the turn onto approach vectors-

Taking a look at my Garmin GNS530 to see what I have to do, and to do the procedural turn it looks like I will have to take over by hand-

Bottom against the clouds-

Lining up is hard with the wind blowing-
http://www.flightsim.com/dcforum/User_files/3e6800a72fdbaa8e.jpg

I don't know how I managed to safely take that picture, the passengers got a little scared because nobody was flying the plane while I took it. Whoops! :-lol-

A beautiful touchdown, if I might say so myself-
http://www.flightsim.com/dcforum/User_files/3e68010a3029e2f7.jpg

And finally, we're parked safely at the stand at OSH-

That concludes this afternoon's flight, but I should be taking the happy passengers back to CGX sometime tomorrow, the AirVenture doesn't seem to be their cup of tea (it was more my suggestion ;-))

Very nice Scott. I like this plane. Always a smooth flier. Clouds in the middle of the set are great..

You need to buy the stand alone version (also 1.1 available) of the Garmin. It will enable you to use it on any other plane you have in your hangar. The one included with the meridian is coded just for that aircraft only.

Luke, AirVenture is the name of the Oshkosh Airshow, if that clarifies things.

Thank you all for the kind comments! Mauro, the GPS is the Reality XP Garmin GNS 530. I have altered the panel to include the RXP 530 in place of the one included with the C421. The effect takes place in both the VC and 2d panel, and I will post the instructions on how to make the changes, it's fairly simple, really-

To replace the GNS with the RealityXP version in the 2d panel-

Open the panel.cfg of the Cessna 421 and scroll down until you find the part that says <Window02> (Only with brackets) and scroll down until you see the entry that starts with "Gauge01", then paste this code line in place of that

gauge01=RealityXP_FL530XP!GNS530, 0,0,500,368

And that's all you need to do to use the RXP GNS530 in place of the C421 version.

The changes for the 2d panel are slightly harder-

Scroll down in the panel.cfg until you see the window that starts with <Vcockpit02> (Again, with brackets instead) and look for the gauge entry starting with "Gauge12=" Once you've found that, simply copy and paste this line-

gauge12=RealityXP_FL530XP!GNS530, 33,367,320,230

That's all you should need to do in order to see the GPS in place, and it's very interesting to see the GPS working in the VC. Of course, as with all modifications I suggest that you are very careful and make backups, and avoid using programs to edit panels such as FS Panel Studio as the Cessna 421 has many window pop-ups and opening and saving the panel.cfg in a program will delete the entries for the pop-ups.
