This morning I awoke in one of the most wretched ways--a huge, sudden searing roar right over my rooftop signaled it was time to get up for the Rose Parade. Three jets from Miramar (out of nowhere from Miramar...) were sent on a very, very low flying mission over Pasadena, doubtless with full afterburners, to signal the start of the Rose Parade at 8 a.m. Then a few minutes later I spotted it on the live coverage--the Stealth Bomber approaching. Rushing to the grandstand view in the kitchen, there it came, flying about 500 feet over Colorado Blvd right down the parade route and right in front of us. It's an amazing thing seeing that fly low over your town. Pasadena really isn't such a bad place.
