Don't feel so bad. They left out Devil's Tower in Wyoming (remember "Close Encounters of the Third Kind) and Shoshone Falls in Idaho (higher than Niagra). These are right in Microsoft's back yard.

Happy New Year

Yeah,

And I can't believe they left my house out... Doh...!!

You can always learn how to do scenery and post it in the library like the THOUSANDS of others things that were left out... :-)
Just a Thought..

Don't forget the Barringer Crater, in USA also... Bad Micro$oft! BAD! Someone said even the Great Wall of China is missing... If that's the case... well, then some serious add ons need to be made.

The point is Microsoft hasn’t bothered to add any scenery for the continent of Africa. Go have a look at Harare strange how it looks just like any other European city, then again why would anyone want to fly around Africa? When America has got every thing you could ever ask for – well almost, Joe Sonar5’s house is missing!

Spent about 2 hours following rivers in SE Venezuela and couldn't find Angel Falls either.

Barringer Crater and Devil's Tower have both been created by 3rd party developers and are currently posted. I'm sure that more will follow....be patient Grasshopper!

I think people are missing the point here...

ORB_505 isn't whining about the missing feature...He is providing information (in a light hearted manner) that the falls are missing.

Why are people so quick to assume that people are moaning? This is a forum, people provide information.

And to the question 'Why would anyone want to fly around Africa when the US has everything'. Not everyone LIVES in the US...Please remember that. MS have create a simulation of the WORLD, it's not unreasonable to expect the great natural features of the world to be included. And the Victoria Falls would be a look more spectacluar to see then Bill Gates house (if the rumour is correct).

Replying to the many 'Go make it yourself' replies. This forum is like I said for information exchanging. If you can't provide a decent answer to a question or comment please spare us your childless remarks. It's you who should have the pasifier (or dummy in the UK).

Well said. And if some people say that "What, my house isn't in there" and someone takes that seriously, then you are spending to much time with your computer. Not that I say anyone has done this.

Hey,

I'm not black...I just play a blackman on TV. So why would anyone want to fly Africa?

I went on safari with the Grand Caravan across Africa.....Talk about your great frame rates. I was getting 30fps all the way across Egypt. Airprts aren't lit at night in Africa, and there's no tower control. It's still the dark continent as far as MS is concerned. But it was a great Safari. From Cairo to Camaroon to Johannasburg.

In a previous version, I once followed the Nile R. south from Egypt where it dead-ended in the middle of the desert.

I just said "higher" not better. It is pretty impressive though when there is water in the snake.

Been in Boise for 28 years and get to Twin frequently.

LAST EDITED ON Jan-02-02 AT 08:23PM (EDT)[p]Should have put one of these icon things ;-) after the remark about why anyone would want to fly around Africa cause that is the one continent I really want to visit with this sim. Unfortunately Africa is not a favourite for add on developers and it is not small piece of real estate to cover.

TShannon,
I also explored Venezuela looking for Salto Angel.
I took off from Canaima and flew and flew ( then cheated
and slewed and slewed). Kind of surprised a 3000 ft feature like
that was not on there. (Sorry, Jimmy, wherever you are)
I would've like to see the tepuis nicely done.

What's the friggin' difference? We could spend all day bringing up what's NOT in the game. It's pointless and idiotic.

>Why are people so quick to
>assume that people are moaning?
Then way did he bring it up? Again, we could probably establish an entire forum dedicated to posts regarding things that are in the world yet not in the game... But we don't, because it's stupid!

>This is a forum, people
>provide information.
Thank you Mr. Webster, I now what I'm doing here.

What in the hell does your first sentence have to do with your second sentence... NOTHING!

>If you can't

This, coming from the person who told me what a forum is. Read your book, Mr. Webster, and you'll find that a forum is a gathering place for the exchange of ideas AND opinions.

PS> "childless remarks" ... What are those? I'm not talking about parenting here. Are you? Unless you meant 'childish'. If you did, you may want to investigate your word choice before you try to call someone else childish, as even a child would know that the term childless only refers to those without children.

I took off from canaima as well and followed the river to the SE. Funny thing is, they have the small waterfall around uriman... the name of the fall has slipped my mind.

Another missing feature in South America is Machu Picchu. It should be located in Peru at around S13°7'; W72°35'... or at least I was unable to find it. Need to do more research of actual pictures to see where it should be in relation to the two lakes in the area in the sim.

Heh. A bit of a mistake here, but that said MS do have to model the entire planet, and you've gotta allow them the odd slip up. Like, for instance, the satelite dish on the top of my hosue. Now, it's a fairly prominant landmark (highest point for at least one hundred metres in any direction), but MS have neglected to include it. But, I'm not going to hold it against 'em. But I'm still surprised that they remembered the Rocky Mountains and forgot my satelite dish.

Ahem. Sorry... Yep, OBR - Sometihng on that scale (and that famous) is something you'd have thought they'd have put in. Ho hum - Like I said, they've got a whole planet to do. Maybe they'll patch it, or somebody else'll patch it for 'em.

Grif - Well said. Smile, you rightly say that the forum is here for the gathering of opinions in addition to ideas. The prerequisite for this, however, is that people are able to give their opinions in a sensible, mature and non-hostile manner. You obviously aren't able to do this, as your first response shows. What the hell was wrong with saying something like, "Whilst Microsoft have indeed failed to include the Victoria Falls, it isn't that great an error given the scale of the scenery they have to model"? It conveys the same opinion without being needlessly (and unamusingly) sarcastic and confrontational.

Heh. Look at me - Writing this as thought you're going to take any notice. Ho hum...

During the Beta process ... I pointed out in a jocular manner that the MS design team had totally omitted Ayer's Rock.

MS's Mr W promised to correct that, and his promise was fulfilled . It was fulfilled, however, in the form of what appears to be a turd lying on the sand close to where Ayers Rock should be ... as representative of the missing landform.

I figure if you don't plan to so a half-decent job, then don't do anything. Like the Opera House and the Sydney Harbour Bridge ... which are laughable.

What? Are you the word of law? By definition, a forum is:
"a : the marketplace or public place of an ancient Roman city forming the center of judicial and public business b : a public meeting place for open discussion c : a medium (as a newspaper) of open discussion or expression of ideas"

Therefore, I will phrase my opinions in whichever way I deem necessary.

Smile: aren't you the one refering to that guy as "Mr. Webster" (clever!) above?

"needlessly (and unamusingly) sarcastic and confrontational." sums up your posts pretty well. I know that you love your Bill Gates and Microsoft does no wrong in your eyes. And anyone who says bad things about your FAVORITE game deserves it, cause otherwise M$ will say "NO MORE FLIGHT SIM GAMES, THAT'S IT!!! I HOPE EVERYONE IS HAPPY, YOU ALL DIDN'T THINK WE DID AWESOME, SO WE QUIT!!!" Won't smile be so so sad.

If he wants to say Angel Falls is not in the game, let him... It may save me from looking for it someday. At least he DID do something clever, it was a funny post. Didn't Mother ever tell you "If you don't have something nice to say..."

Jesus, it's people like you who make this forum unbearable at times... "Don't say anything bad about the game! Don't complain ever! IT'S A $70.00 SIM!!!" It's a buggy piece of software with a lot of problems, it needs a patch, and there is a lot of landmarks which I would also like to see in the game... I'm not saying M$ should put them in there, but I'm saying people complain here because the game seems incomplete.

If it still bothers you, get a friggin life. BTW, Smile!

Worry not Travis, and everyone else who's been insulted by this 'Smile' character. His actions will, with any luck, show what an immature and nasty little character he is. It's not as if anybody's going to respect his opinions if he behaves like this.

I believe that the best course of action will be to nod and smile at him, and then ignore him completely.

The thing about people like smile :-) is that if they where talking 'face to face' with any of us he would probably not be so insulting.

It's the 'anonymity' of the internet forum that gives him the 'balls'. Although I'm sure he'd disagree!
