View Full Version : Modified Baron 58 Panel - Interested?

Although many people tend to bash the MS default planes, I personally enjoy some of the newer ones--Baron 58 and Grand Caravan. However, with that being said, there are a few things I'd like to change. Some of these include pop-up panels that extend outside the panel boundaries or, even worse, cover the pop-up buttons (i.e. the throttle quadrant in the Baron). :-)

Well, I have over time modified my Baron 58 panel to correct these anomolies. I have also incorporated some freeware Garmin GPS shrouds that seem to add a bit to the default planes.

Anyway, here are the before and afters. If you'd like, I can upload the necessary files, just let me know.

Jeff, I would really like the one with the radio stack incorporated into the panel. Nice work!

Hey Jeff,
They get my vote for upload. I really like the GPS gauges by Ike. I've been slowly incorporating them into my panels.
Take care,
Dave

LAST EDITED ON Dec-31-01 AT 06:41PM (EDT)[p]Just to clarify-

There would be two options:

Option 1 - modified throttle quadrant, modified radio stack, modified lighting, and new Garmin 500 GPS

or

Option 2 - modified throttle quadrant, modified radio stack, modified lighting, and new Garmin 195 handheld GPS

Jeff,
I took up the "Option 1" Baron and what a treat! So much better than the default! Are you going to do the same with some of the other aircraft? (Caravan, Amphibian) Please?

Really much better, looks like a perfect fit.

John-

I'm glad you like it and had no problems with installation. :-)

Yes, I am "thinkin' about" doing some of the other defaults. I'll let you know what comes of it. ;-)

Hi John-

:-)

Well, so long as you don't tell anyone, ;-) I will be uploading some other modified panels in the next few days--Cessna 172S, Cessna 182RG, and the Cessna 182S (all VFR panels, not IFR). I simply need to compile the zip files and related docs.

I have been and will be looking at the Caravan panels, but the more I look at them, the more things I find that I want to change. ;-) Another guy, a Caravan pilot for FedEx, posted a modified Grand Caravan file over in the MS General forum at Avsim in which he swapped some gauges around. If I made any changes to the Caravan panel, I would want to piggy-back off of his changes, so obviously I would need to get permission. So, in short, the Caravan may take a bit longer. ;-)

Other than the heavies, which I have no interest in, is there much interest in revised/modified Lear or Mooney panels? Since I don't really flies these, I'm a bit undecided on whether it is worth spending the necessary time to make the changes. Although, if there was enough interest, I probably would.

Take care, :-)

In response to some emails I have received, this is just a reminder that you need to put the gauge file(s) in the 2002/gauge folder. ;-)
