View Full Version : Some Default Aircraft textures appear, some don't

Has anyone out there come across the problem whereby some of the default FS2K2 pro edition aircraft (ie: textures- paint schemes) appear whilst others do not? I can clearly see the textures on some default aircraft whilst the others are completely textureless and all white in color.

eg: I can see the following aircraft and their textures -

* Cessna 182 RG
* Learjet 45
* Mooney Bravo
* Schweizer
* Sopwith
* Vought Corsair

eg: The default 737's, 747's & 777's are all white with no texture or paint scheme?

eg: Most 3rd party aircraft textures/paint schemes appear just fine.

A real weird one. I have uninstalled and reinstalled FS2K2, etc. New drivers for my 3D card too. Same problem still.

NB: If I get out of 3D mode and back to 2D mode, the textures on ALL aircraft appear. No aircraft will appear in the picture box when choosing aircraft type from the menu. But when in 2D mode, the picture of each aircraft I choose will appear?

Thanks,

Steve

When a model goes gray:

1. Pause game.
2. Goto outside view
3. Wait for textures to load.

Try it, I want to know if this helps.

How much RAM do you have? Same thing used to happen to me in FS2000 when I only had 128MB. Made a few upgrades ending up with 512MB. Now, no problems at all in FS2k2 (or FS2000 when it was still loaded).
With RAM so cheap, an upgrade might be in order if you're limited.

Yeah, I've done this too......just waited in spot view to see if the textures load.....but unfortunately they don't no matter how much time I give them.

Strangest problem..........

Previously had 128 megs ram and recently upgraded to 256......yet the same problem still exists?

KNown problem. Use imagetool .exe to change the default textures that DON'T show to the same format as the ones that DO - probably a dxt1 or 3 problem. Had same trouble with my old Voodoo card using the PSS Seneca, until I found and posted the fix.

ALternatively, you may just have to change the card.
