A few days ago I went down to my local computer store to pick up a copy of fs2002. I didnt know much about the game, but i love flight sims. When I arrived at this computer store i was shocked to see that the game wasnt there. I asked the manager, and he said there will be another few copies in in a few weeks or so. I am kinda happy this happened, because i did a lot of research on the game afterwards, and found out i need a really good computer to run it! So the money i have saved for the game is going to go towards a ge-force 2 graphics card, and after that i am going to buy some more ram, i wish my job paid more! So if i am lucky i might get fs2002 for my birthday, which is in march, a long way away. I have been to lots of flight simulator sites and this is one of the best, i love the message board. :):):). Anyway i have posted here to ask everyone who reads this to tell me some good things about the game, because i have a lot of waiting to do. :( Thanks!! :):):)

Yes you can fly anywhere in the entire world. Some areas better than others graphicaly speaking. I have only had it sence christmas but have been waiting sence late spring when it was annonunced publicaly. It does require a pretty good computer though I have a 1.2ghz Athlon with 384mb sdram and a overclocked Geforce2 pro 64mb card. I max out at about 25 fps, which is totaly accectable for a game like this.

wow, 25 frames is great, my computer is very simular to yours except it has a 1.2GHZ Celeron (Which i know isnt as good as yours but it gets the job done) What frame rate do you get in dense areas??
I feel yer pain Luke... I recal being in the same boat as you are now before the darn thing came out. I was ACTIVELY searching the net for anything that was fs2k2 related. There are tons of screan shots out there including the ones that you're going to find here on this side. In a way you have it better than the rest of us in that we didn't have all the variety of screen shots to salivate over before we got the game.
In the sim, you can fly anywhere in the world. All the public airports are there. As you may or may not also know, you can add all kinds of different planes into the sim. There are many new features that really make the game come to life, your system will be just fine to I might add.
Be patient... keep hanging around here and we'll keep you occupied until you get your copy!.. heh... anything good is worth waiting for anyway!
Good Luck!

Just a quick question to everyone out there.....
In FS2002, is there any way to fly with passengers in your plane?!

It was in May 2000 that I started having an interest in the aviation world and was so impressed by what my friend was saying in the end about fs2000 that I went out and brought the standard edition of the game. Well I won't go on about that but I was very impressed with all the feautures you could do. After having the game for 1year and 5months I decided to get Fs2002.
I was soo impressed when I first loaded it up, and found it really good you could create a flight, change weather and time, all in one window. One of my main excitements with fs2002 was the introduction of the 747-400. Fortunately I have had no errors or hang ups with the game, the only problem maybe is the framerates - but their not bad.
Well I started to fly around quite a lot and using ATC (which is cool) - i find it soo clever today that in these computer games you can ask for stuff and interact with responses.
One of the many amazing things about Microsofts flight sim is that you are able to download thousands of add ons for the game. Mostly I download aircraft, and I am always stunned at the detail that these painters can achieve. They are certainly a credit to the simming world.
It seems that everyday I learn something knew about flight sim. I mean yesterday was the first time that I learned how to do an ILS approach (i had no idea even during fs2000). Their are so many things you learn in fs2002 - from week to week, day to day. Its just amazing.
One of the greater enjoyments in flightsim 2002 is the new autogen scenery. It just feels so much better now when coming into land and seeing below you houses and trees etc. It just makes it a more realistic flight.
On flight sim I do a lot of long haul flights, with the 3rd party aircrafts. I find it really good the fact that the timezones exist in Flight sim. Call me weired but I just find it really cool flying from Lon - Sing and observing the +8h zone.
Their are so many brilliant good things to say about flightsim in my review. I have named a few. The best thing I find about flight sim is that I find the small things please me a lot --- eg time zones. Hope this review has helped a bit.
Happy Flying
John
