Franken,

Fabulous shots...great atmosphere. I have the Beaver and I would very much like to take it to Hood Bay. Please can you tell me the name of the file and where to get it. Thank you for the shots...is that scenery using Denney's Mesh?

Isn't this just great scenery? And with the right aircraft (like the Turbo Beaver) it really is a lot of fun.

Great job posting, I'm hoping that it turns more folks onto this kind of flying.

Thank you all for the nice comments.

Static gauges - but very nice static gauges. This beaver by Fred Banting and Yannick Lavigne and repainted by Timothy Claxton (hope I got this right) includes a beautiful 2D panel with all-around side views. No VC but don't let that stop you.

Peter - the scenery is Alaskan Docks SE: Package #1 For FS2002 By Dave Erickson. File name is akdk1.zip and I found it in the file library on that other site. ;-) And - yep I'm using Eddie Denney's mesh along with Lennart Arvidsson's textures, Ed Truthan's autogen conifer tree replacement pack and last but not least - new river texture by Holger Busekros. Really lovely all of them.

Can I also ask with the replacement tree textures, how much does it effect the frame rate with the higher quality one?

Not much - for me at least. I have an AMD Athlon 1.4Ghz CPU with 640Mb RAM and a Geforce2 Pro 64Mb card running everything at max, except water reflection. My FPS slider is set at 20 and I might go down to 12-15 FPS (which is fine by me) every now and then, but mostly I'm at 19-20. Since I spend most of my sim time in the wilderness I don't have to worry much about AI or densly populated areas affecting FPS. Not that there's any big forests in the cities. :) Anyway - I'm not going back. Gotta have my trees.

Well, posting the url directly somehow isn't possible. This is what it looks like when posting: www.#####.com - but try to figure this out: It begins with a, continues with v and ends with sim. ;-) I really don't know why it is blocked.

My system specs are : P4
256 RDRAM
GeForce 2 64mb MX400
Win ME
40 gb hard disk

How much will it effect mine. I've got all my scenery sliders maxed, AI traffic full,anti-aliasing,mip-mapping,tri-linear lining, aircraft texture size full, reflections, water texture on full.

That would just be guessing on my part. I also don't use anti-aliasing or water reflections - but my suggestion would be to try out the 512x512 conifer textures first to see if you like them (they are not supposed to have any effect on FPS according to the readme.txt). If not - go for 1024x1024 and drop the water reflections. They're nice but I'll take those trees over reflections any day. Just my opinion.

ok I'll have a look, if you take off reflections it still has its ripple right?

Franken

Yep, everything but the reflections is still there I think.

Anyone know where I can find a good floatplane, besides the Caravan?
