View Full Version : What a CFS cockpit should look like.....

I admit, I'm somewhat disappointed, or perhaps really disappointed with the virtual cockpits of CFS3. Take the P-51 as an example; the 2D bitmap cockpit of Microsoft's original CFS1 really looked quite good. But since then it's all gone downhill. This newest representation of the P-51 makes me not want to even use it.

I just recently downloaded a freeware P-51 for FLYII. While it's guns don't fire, and the sounds still need some improvement, it DOES offer one of the best fighter cockpit's I've seen. It's not virtual, but does offer scrolling, multiple views, and working gauges & control surfaces from every view that includes them.

I'm getting picky in my "old age". I either want virtual cockpits resemble cockpits (they're are some out there), or go back to 2D's with multiple & realistic views.

I agree with you, the cockpits are rather sad looking. I was watching a documentary on The History Channel about the P47, afterwards I decided to go on a quick attack mission with CFS3. Bad idea, the cockpit stunk!

Here's a couple more of the stock CFS3 cockpit, note the alieron trim wheel on the left side bottom, in the looking down view, is much nicer in Ladosmsom's fly panel as compared to this one in CFS3.
