Hi, got CFS3 yesterday. No matter what I do I can't get it to go beyond the splash screen without being dumped back to the desktop.

I've tried different drivers, reinstalled the game, cfs3config set to practically just about every setting I can think of with no joy.

Does anyone have any ideas or is this for the bin. I'm pretty computer savvy and this one has got me baffled. Its not as though it's a borderline system either.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions/help :)

Paul

Try updating your system BIOS.

That worked for me.

I had the same issue. It improved when I upgraded from 512 ram to 768. And Move some of your graphics quality sliders down to 2 or 3. It will let you play the game longer. Now it only happens after 15 to 20 minutes instead of after one minute. Someday when the prices go down I will get a gf4 128mb video card or the ati 9700 pro. I only have a gf4 64mb mx 440 at this time.

Hi guys thanks for the suggestions.

I'm on the latest BIOS, so I guess it's not that.

I can't believe that the game needs 768mb, when the box says it will run on as low as 64mb. If it does then it's pretty pathetic. Problem is he129 it doesn't matter what slider settings I have - it won't run the game at all. Just the splash screen and back to desktop.

Any other ideas?

Similar problem to yours but a different syatem.
1.8 GHz, 512MB RAM and 64MB nVidia GeForce 3

I reduced the colour from x32bit to x16 and this solved the problem. Simple solution I know but it worked. Currently running at 1600x1200x16.

I just couldn't get this game to run without crashing <see systems hangs further down>, until I saw this link on another newsgroup.

http://www.sim-outhouse.com/

I followed the tips set out in the tweaks and tips section and now it 'appears' to be running more stable. I've managed a quick play of about 30mins and no system crashes as opposed to the 5 mins before hand.

Apologies to any tips previously published on this forum, there were a few that I hadn't seen on this site!

Anyway good luck!

This happened to me yesterday, and it was very frustrating as we were waiting to get in multiplayer. A quick message to my mate who was on messenger at the time sorted it.

Go to the main CFS3 folder on your hard drive, there you will find a black icon named CFS3 config, open that and click the settings back to default settings. Mine worked immediately after doing that.

If you want to make any changes to the settings after, best do them 1 by 1 so you know which causes the problem.

Try it, let me know if it works for you.

Thanks guys for your help. But this game flatly refuses to go beyond the splash screen. Default settings, custom settings, 16bit etc all do not work.

Buggiest piece of crap I've seen from MS :( grr
